Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Was November's Layoff nothing more than employment terrorism?

November's layoff accomplished many things; reduced payroll and eliminated benefits to most employees who work with customers, ended many cherished careers, struck terror into the hearts of the remaining employees and finally, it provided a platform for management to advise employees to find jobs elsewhere because access to stingy severance was difficult, cumbersome and limiting. While there was a terrible business result, it also caused well paid employees (who were not laid off) to look for work elsewhere. It works better than laying folks off; no severance.

The destruction is overwhelming and emotionally crushing.

Exactly, we need to stick to the man, not each other. They are the creators of this mess affecting so many lives and families.

Re: 21392; I agree, after I posted, I realized I was falling into exactly what they want us to do, create in fighting, using this board for something other than it what intended to be. So I promise not to react again.

I have found this board to be immensely informative, thinking that this was just happening to a select group of employees.

Re: 21308: you are just proving to the rest of us what a classless individual you are, only able to use profanity on here to stir the pot. So I will take myself down to your level and say that I would bet your phone isn't the only "little" thing on you......

If you harassed employees into leaving, there is no non-disclosure agreement in place. You're fair game. You've likely made yourself a life-long, very motivated enemy. That's how stupid you are/were. Management wanted to reduce payroll, but they didn't want to pay severance packages to their longest tenured, highest paid employees. So they asked you to abuse these people who sunk their heart and soul into this company. You did. Live with the consequences. They didn't pay a severance. They couldn't demand a non-disclosure agreement in exchange for a severance package. You were the abusers. You're on the hook. Every new job you ever get, your victim will hear about it. Your victim will be right to speak out against you. They'll be telling the truth. You will have no defense as long as you keep Follett's dirty little secret. Beg that your victim forgives you and come clean. It's the best thing you can do!

Doing a google search is pretty simple. you're an idiot. The reference to Hitler was really a reference to claiming you were only following orders. In all the sensational cases listed, those who executed the order couldn't hide behind the fact that someone else gave the order, you simpleton. Did you obey the order? Have you humiliated and harassed employees upon the order of another? In that same topic string, this Jeff AH was challenged to come out and say he was ordered to do it. If it's true and abuse is being ordered, say so, chicken shit!

I've been reading long enough to understand the reference to a much older post, but I don't agree with the 'whack' comment. There continues to be some unacceptable harassment being used to force people to quit. There is nothing whacky about complaining about it.

You're "mistake" is trolling this board for the purposes harassing people who feel they've been abused. That makes you an AH of the first order.

OK my mistake - you're obviously a different whack job. Those reading board for a while will get the reference.

There are no Hitler references here. WTF are you talking about? Please be specific. I'd like to read the reference.

As to not being able to let go, you're obviously trolling this board to detect something. Don't be a chicken shit any longer. Come out and identify who you are and what your interest is.

It does help to expose the real Follett. They care more about Alta Gracia (for self serving needs) then their own employees.

You're comment is exactly on point. This is what management wants (don't complain, just leave). If you're a management stooge, are you asking us not to describe the "suddeningly stupid" abuse? Hear that folks? This is what they fear. Keep it up!

yet here your are

What is helpful is seeing others were abused, too. Sunlight is the best disinfectant. We need to air more of follett's dirty laundry, hold a mirror up to follett and make them understand what damage they've done.

I can't speak for you, but I'm damned angry that someone thought it was a good idea to drive great employees out of the company by manufacturing performance issues. This was my work product. I take pride in that. Yet, follett management didn't look at what I contributed they looked at my salary and they wanted it (for free). The abuse I suffered was life changing.

So, I'm not ready to go quietly into that good night, thank you. Tell your whore bosses that we know who they are and we're horrified they're not humiliated by their track record and tactics.

It's utterly pointless to come and complain over what could have been. It's gone.

Thing you can't change: How Follett runs their business.

Thing you can change: where you work.

Absolutely agree with everything written here, I became "suddenly stupid" after having an excellent career, got out, but they made ridiculous mistakes. I don't go down easy.folleet used to be a decent company to work for, not now....get out as soon as you can.

Agree, productivity everywhere has plummeted. Noone cares. How can a company survive with just a few new employees that may care, and the established employees don't give a rat's ass.

I am happy for you too, glad you were able to retire. So many that had put in hard, loyal years and got tormented until they just left (they were hoping to get some severance but it wasn't worth the bs) or got so stressed out that any minor reason gave the new mgnt (and another service dept I won't mention that will be targeted soon, not spec either) reason for dismissal because they were writing everyone up for everything waiting for the "opportunity" not to pay a minimal severance package. The money was instead spent on redecorating upper mgnt offices or other pet "projects" which will not return a positive ROI. The calculated actions to avoid paying a small safety net of coverage to help people not lose their homes and have time to find other employment being deliberately planned towards people show no dignity or integrity. Definitely no class.

Glad you had the chance to retire. Many of your former colleagues never got the chance. They were working towards retirement and they were either abused until they quit or they became "suddenly stupid" and managed out or they were laid off. Follett is a disgusting collection of poor plays looking for great 2nd acts. They'll find there are no 2nd acts.
