Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Worried about the wrong things!

Wow - "love" the new leadership from kfart! They are more worried about phone cases and energy drinks than actually having a strategy around course materials and maintaining our campus relationships. Way to go Don and MLS! Lets send out a DAILY email about phone case sales - glad to know Notre Dame sold another 4 cases yesterday. Meanwhile course materials sales are down millions of dollars.

MLS's strategy to improve stock price is to just fire as many people as possible. Sorry...they are not firing anyone - they are all "retiring" or "resigning." Let's have more town halls where you and your buddies chuckle at really bad jokes. And the "Happy Song" REALLY? You have to be kidding me. NO ONE here is "happy." The morale is so low thanks to all the firings, and added workload, and unrealistic expectations. NOT to mention the new "bonus" plan. Most of GM and the FSS group beat their numbers (some significantly). But rather than reward people who work hard and turn in results, you basically eliminate the bonus program by tying it to an overall company performance threshold. I'm guessing bonus payouts are less than one half of one percent of the company's revenue. Way to motivate your employees!!

I hold a degree in computer science and left a job of 4+ years for this hellhole. There is no formal training for Follett for any of their positions, this is no good considering the proprietary nature of a lot of their systems. I was assured they would work with me during my interview. I gave up the job of 4+ years and I was doing a great job by the view of many of my peers. There had been a few syntax related mistakes during my training phase, but the majority of my work was average to above average. These evil people decided to disguise a weekly performance meeting in the form of a termination meeting with me one day to tell me that I was being let go for those mistakes. We are talking about non impactful mistakes that I had caught and self corrected. I was setting up stores remotely and becoming increasingly familiar with all of the Follett hardware and methodologies. In essence, this place is a proverbial cheerleading squad. If you are not a sycophant and leave lipstick of your boss's ass- you will be termed (eventually. Abnormal levels of pretentious office politics. Phonies abound. In the end, I know that the reason for my "let go" was because my supervisor didn't like me (I questioned him a couple times during my employment). The lesson: if you are offered a job with this place, TRUST ME, steer clear. They are notorious for firing people for the pettiest of reasons. This is something I did not learn until I had been working there and became "familiar" with the company culture. These bastards have left me jobless for four months and counting for basically NOTHING! My family and myself stand at risk for a potentially bleak future. I could kick myself for leaving my 4+ year job for this joke. Be warned.

Please do not send 80 more cases of Snak-Club. We had to mark at least two out of stock for expiring. How about you just leave us alone and let us buy what we know our customers will eat?

And no one is drinking 5-hour energy any more, finals or not.

There is no course materials experience with the kfarters. That is why they focus on sales elsewhere. This years is going to be bad. Everybody should be prepared for massive cuts this year. Cuts will continue to match the sales declines. Need to drive up stock price (who gets the big stock option grants?).

Stock price up because of ZERO bonus payouts?

They were not fired. Their positions were eliminated. Or the new term, Calibrated. Wait until reviews are done and see who is left
