Thread regarding Riverbed Technology Inc. layoffs

We spent 3+ years developing something that is mediocre at best

Whomever said doubt they’ll bin SCON, I think you need a reality check. It will end up on maintenance releases only I expect.

As other poster said RVBD spent 3+ years developing something that is probably mediocre at best. And still can’t/won’t scale for enterprise without massive investment that the company just cannot afford due to ebitda requirements from TB.

That is not to belittle the hard work put in by eng, I it just wasn’t good enough in my view. But taking a long hard look at SteelConnect compared to competitors you have to be realistic about were the solution is.

This versa play at least seems to be smart move in the circumstances the company is in.

Well said, @ZwV3eJC-jqx.

SteelConnect (SCON) is not enterprise ready. At the moment, no company in their right mind will buy this trash until all the bugs are worked out. Only Riverbed is dumb enough to subject themselves to this pain.

Also if someone ends up buying versa, they might buy a portion of our sales, engineering staff that supports that OEM initiative

Should be versa. Simply going to stop paying our old routing vendor and use versa branding going forward.

Any idea if future Steelhead SD releases will include SteelConnect or Versa?

Two weeks to go. Please sell and meet quotas. Need cash. Does anyone know when the new Gartner report coming for wan edge? Cisco is stepping back I heard they are going to ignore this market as they ignored wanopt few years back. They don’t need to struggle. Sell isr and if sdwan needed then sell viptela. If they slow down the transition the sdwan players lose.

SDLAN and Ocedo WiFi needs to go too. When your 5 year old WiFi has better features than today’s Ocedo WiFi, it’s time to let go that BU.

To be clear, it was already ferociously mediocre when Riverbed bought Ocedo.

This news seems to confirm suspicions of more layoffs on the horizon. I expect a 25% workforce reduction over the next 4 months
