Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

I decided not to leave my fate into their hands

I did what I felt was right. I’m an ex HON employee that decided not wait and become the victim of all these shifts. Last Monday was my first day at my new job after HON. To early to say anything,is it better or is it worse, but it’s certainly more secure and the pay is slightly better. I started looking for a new job at the beginning of the year, while I was still an HON employee. Not any easy process, I can tell you, but at least it turned out for the better, and my destiny wasn’t decided by the grady leadership. I would advise anyone whose skills are even a little marketable to do the same.

I know I should leave but I am not too far from retirement. If I can only put up with the abuse for 5+ more years, I will be home free. It's a hard choice to leave the job even if it is a bad one.

One good thing about looking outside HI is that every potential employer understands why you want to leave. For you over 50 types out there there are much better places to be that appreciate you for your experience and don't require constant sacrifice.

I also got out. I was tired of the unethical behaviour, long hours, expectation of working nights, weekends, and holidays, "make the numbers at any cost" mentality. My staff was considered expendable (they weren't), and each time I spoke up against the nonsense, I was shot down. I am glad to be gone, my health and outlook have improved, and I haven't looked back. Glad to be gone.

To OP, Kudos to you. I did serious examination of my current situation (23 year with H and TM for 11 year) after years of benefit erosion, double and tripling of my work load (12 hour day were the norm) as well as and being pushed further and further into unethical behavior. IO decided to I pulled the rip-cord and jumped to a new company . quite happy now, and actually have work life balance. The only thing the still haunts me after shear waste of my life that i gave to those rat-B#stards. But I'm working on that with each free night and weekend :)

Anyway everyone needs to make their own choices. Best to all of you!

I see the young people bailing quickly once they realize Future Shapers is Honeywell jumping the shark before it nose dives like GE. Remember all the TV ads for GE where the kid would explain he was a developer and the millennials didn't understand

Same thing here

If you are too young to understand "Jumping the Shark" you know how to Google to find it and certainly are not the age that will stay at HON
