Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

I miss job security

Reading about more layoffs at AIG every single day is really not good for my health - mental or physical.

The worst part is, there's nothing I can do about it.

If I decide to leave - is there really a company out there where people still enjoy even a semblance of job security? If there is, I don't know of it.

This is our new reality. And honestly, it s---s.

The time of job "security" is long past. If you expect it with government, then you're fooling yourselves. States can't afford to provide pensions to the folks already there, much less new people. How much longer will folks be willing to pay higher taxes for pensions folks in the private sector don't get?

Don't believe everything you read here. For instance, only 38 layoffs on June 14th in Olathe KS. It's always "massive" layoffs. There are plenty of good companies out there in this employee job market. AIG isn't one of them.
