Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

This is just rebranding, nothing else

Every new executive that comes in has his own brand of consulting companies coming in to tell us how to reboot with a different name. we have had multiple advisory companies come in and tell us what to do over the years, but this is downright bs. the way we have been hearing is AIG 200 is about culture change, well i say its just rebranding of effing AIG 2020. the news in ny is that any one who is not 24 is not going to manage projects nor have any direct reports. this is one of the recommendations from mckinsey and also coming with a manager shud have 5 resources under them atleast

Many of the GR 24s couldn't manage a project if their life depended on it. Most don't have the subject matter expertise to know what to do, and most don't have leadership skills to inspire their people.

Leadership has the best of both worlds - they hired consulting firms to tell them how to manage so they can sit around and do nothing, and if it doesn't work, well, it must be the consultant's fault.

With all the consulting and advisory firms we have had in the past, I am surprised that we don't take a different approach. Why don't they use some of the Talent they have in this company. Go to the Service Centers, and develop some focus groups with the employees. Keep management out of it. Get the feedback from the employees who do the work. The surveys they put out are useless. The feedback you give on performance reviews is really a lot of bs. BD and Senior Management and these consulting firms have no idea what is really going on. I think a lot more would come out and be corrected within this organization. But keep the Managers out because they cover up and you can't get to the root of the problems unless you hear from the employees.
