Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Anyone knows what is going on with ADF, JDeveloper org?

Anyone here know how are they doing? Specially the ADF org since their c-appy UI is one of the reasons oracle apps are not sleek looking. I know many reasons but this would be one.

And JDeveloper, is it in maintenance mode or still being developed?

It was another one of great ideas that ORACLE should keep its own IDE rather than putting the effort in making plugins for an actual proper IDE that developers are using.

History seems to repeat itself here..... Oracle could have been building eclipse plugins and not have had to build everything from scratch..... now oracle could be building apps for other cloud platforms.... but no, they have to build a c-appy "cloud" of their own instead.

I was there in 2015 when we were still working on jdev plugins. Right after that, it seemed to me that the core jdev development moved to other places, like I saw someone from russia supporting the code, instead of the original developers. I guess the original developers moved on to the cloud? I left shortly after that, it was not looking good for jdev.

Fusion middleware including jdev ended active development in 2015. Probably one more maintenance release this year then no mas.

JDev is dead in sense of being further developed as it was in early 2010. We are selling it to the poor people who develop extension to oracle apps.

JDev had its day. For a time, that team had some good talent. But that was a long time ago. All the real talent left that group ages ago. No one left in that org with any skill at all. The state of the product speaks for itself.

I do not know about ADF but JDeveloper had no release for almost 20 months. It was another one of great ideas that ORACLE should keep its own IDE rather than putting the effort in making plugins for an actual proper IDE that developers are using.
