Massive layoffs on 6/1

Massive layoffs to happen on 6/1, approx 650 employees. They are targeting people who come to the office late eg. after 10am and leave early.

I received a call from my manager saying our group is reorganizing and I will no longer be in her group. She does not know who my new manager is. The target date for reorg is 6/1. Am I being cynical or is this a sly way of telling me I am gone on 6/1?

Well, 15+% revenue decline probably means 15+% headcount reduction across the board.

Most likely to be from anyone on greater than median wage as published in the CEO pay ratio - so anyone on above US$77k. Which almost certainly means Europe and USA.

Of course the "elite" at the top of the pile are excluded from the great purge because every dollar spent on them is a dollar well spent. You techies, you do nothing.... apparently.

I'm hearing of more and more people being let go. This 6/1 round appears to be global and it'sh--ting western nations hard. The numbers I've been told appear to be massive. The OP who wrote 650 is way off. This could be up to TWENTY PERCENT of the entire workforce.

I don't know about leaving early, but a lot of people in my division come in late because they have to deal with other companies in many other time zones. So coming in late by itself is not an indication of 'slacking'.

Some in an office is obviously pointing out that a particular individual is coming in after 10:00 am and leaving later . That type of focus on a post is not a general indication of a global habit . It’s posted to point out to an individual or individuals that are now making it a habit .

People will get laid off . If it’s not these slackers , then who ?

I have seen them in my region as well .

Work ethic means nothing to these type of bottom feeders and the thing is , it won’t be an advantageous skill set to promote yourself on later .

So glad I am out of this pathetic company. I am more so glad to have experienced the greener side of the fence . There are people out there with work ethics and it’s s pleasure to call them team mates .
