Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Cliffsnotes to most of the posts found here:

Laid off, blah blah, bitter, blah, can't get back on my feet, blah, end of world, blah.

You're welcome.

Seriously OP, what are you doing here posting this total c-ap?

Oh, you must work at Oracle, so you don't have anything better to do.

@OP

Hahaha...

Funny, but true.

@Z49ZeFb-fqo

Can't agree more.

However I believe there are only a couple of malcontents on this board generating 99% of the c-ap. Posting the same stuff over and over again.

IBM is now selling off complete business divisions.

IBM laid off so many people over the past 5 years.

Some these people ended up working at customers

Others joined partners.

Some started their own IT shops.

They all return the favor.

Oracle is no different.

Ex-Oracle people will be everywhere Oracle wants to sell.

They will sabotage and block quietly and effectively.

Revenge is a dish best served cold.

Also, dont forget - it was on the layoff dot com that the news about solaris being canned first leaked. All major media sources quted it and taht thread had 200k views... the site has a purpose indeed... now, since the mission is to provide space for venting I see no issue with people complaining. If i feel like not absorbing negative energy I just skip those threads - when feeling able to handle it i offer them words of support, something that Oracle so often fails to do...

Many good posts here, even better replies. Some junk. Prople are venting, thats OK - need a cheerful uplift? Go talk to your manager, it is all milk and honey, you will love all you hear.

"Honest communication is a win / win in my book."

I agree with you in principal and concept. The reality is this place is soaked with laid-off people who can't move on with their lives. I've yet to encounter a forum/group so full of entitlement and self-victimization.

If this place is a reflection/sample of people Oracle laid-off and their reactions to it; then it's difficult to vilify Oracle.

Most of the posts here are to help people prepare for an uncertain future. Rumor is the only thing we have because Oracle has constant layoffs with out warning. If Oracle would be kind enough to say which divisions were getting trimmed ahead of time people could prepare, and Oracle may not need to pay severance.

Honest communication is a win / win in my book.

Very mature, Judging by your extensive vocabulary, you must be in HR or an executive. Must be hard to type when you are cleaning that brown junk off your entire face.
