You are only a prisoner if you are waiting for a retirement package, or you unfortunately work in a city and/or in a family situation where you HAVE to work there.
If not in that situation, get out of there now, while the getting out is good is my advice. Update your skills NOW if you arn't marketable enough to get out. This economic ride will crash one day, then it will be too late.
Be flexible and think outside your normal box. There are jobs out there. For now.
