Thread regarding Ford layoffs

For all of you Ford employees out there - there no loyalty with the company

For all of you Ford employees out there - there no loyalty with the company. Ford will do what it takes to survive and the employees will do what it takes to keep their job or leave the company for a better job. There are many lazy, unproductive workers at Ford. This include salary and hourly.

There employees must be weeded out for the better. These employees have no self motivation and all they will do is work as much overtime as they can while they are allowed.

Shame on management at Ford to allow GSR to work more than 8 hours per week of OT, all they are doing is showing at the plant and disappeared. This is another reason why Ford can't make profits as they should. Ford profits for 2018 should have been $20B instead of $7B. This is due to poor quality products, warranty and repair cost, safety recalls, making products that customers don't want to buy, lazy and inefficient workforce, no internal engineering or design team, Ford engineers hire outside suppliers to engineer and design their products and equipment. Lots of money and resources wasted.

Wouldn’t have worded it up in such a hard tone as @YuqyOlf-3opd but this is a post that paints a good picture of the actual situation .

Quote from LL6 today. “The only resources on my team who are productive are the three contractors.” His team has 21 members, most of whom have over 20 years of service.

I Can’t say I disagree with him. I was just surprised he knew since he hasn’t done anything about it.

Agree LL5s in my organization provide questionable value.

But my former LL6 takes the cake. On discussing him taking on a more equal share of the work he actually says "My job is to lead and direct this department." I'm his only report, so it was only me and him in the "department"...

I’ve seen that.

I’ve seen numerous lazy folks getting promotions...

Anyway- what is the purpose of an LL5 - ours doesn’t do much besides sheilding the chief. How about your department?

True engineering was slowly replaced over the last 20+ years with corporate politics, promotions and hiring done based on family connections, humble compliance/participation in organizational politics - see the "great Ford family" as corporate policy. I completely agree with the previous statement that most of true engineering is outsourced leaving Ford engineers to act as project coordinators (at best) or beaurocrats (at worst). On a larger scale SE Michigan is not quite an attractive place to live for a good engineer with reasonable expectations for a positive, balanced, cultural lifestyle which explains the massive exodus of highly qualified young people, leaving the rest behind. So the talent pool for automotive industry is fairly sketchy, to be fair.

3bkx - How true. If managers pulled their head out of the sand they would see the obvious. We have the white collar walking brigade who spend most of their day walking around the building. We have the meetup crowd who schedule “critical” meetings with each other several hours a day to play cards and socialize. We have the “ working from home crowd” who are really attending MBA classes at LTU and doing homework instead of Ford work. We have the “collecting fake comp time” to augment vacation time crowd.

Yesterday a 62 year old with 35 years at Ford stated “why would I retire? Working at Ford is the best retirement.” The guy hasn’t done much for decades.

Thank you for your post. The truth hurts but it’s fact! We have a lot of good people on board the Ford ‘gravy train’ but we many way too many people (mainly in the GSR level — no engineering group) who are s---ing up OT and eating at profits and are overpaid yet waaaay too underworked.

If the upper management would take the time to walk the facility’s and plants talk to the ‘working’ people in an unannounced fashion they would learn a lot. There is a lot of smoke being blown up the arses of mid to high level managers that they have no idea what’s true or BS.

Please take this opportunity to do the righteous thing and weed out and let go of the do-nothings and the OT creating machines that are eroding Ford’s bottom line in the name of their own personal financial gain.
