Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Stay away from oracle

Do not consider joining oracle at this point in time unless you are looking to get laid off in a few months. On a normal company you would not have spect newly hired people to be getting laid off, but oracle is no normal company - hiring and layoffs are completely uncoordinated, if they decide to cut the group you were hired into the fact that they just hired you will be irrelevant and there is no way of telling which groups they will decide to cut. Therefore, go work somewhere else

Omg, buying oracle would be like yahoo - easing money a total dud. Only SB was dumb enough to do that and he’s gone.

Yahoo and Nokia did not do right things at the right time and they are mostly irrelevant now. No matter what they build today...the world doesnt look at them as innovative leaders. O is on the verge of becoming irrelevant too. O spent way too much time to get into cloud. Even after all this time, quality services are missing.

It's high time to study and prepare for good opportunities outside of O..

MS or Google would not want to pay 184B dollars for Oracle. Give me a break.

Never join Oracle if you have other offer in hand or stay at your previous employer.

"MS or IBM for some of the SaaS and customers."

I think that if anyone were to acquire O that they would sell off most of the legacy businesses, except perhaps the DB.

IMHO Google would not touch it. MS or IBM for some of the SaaS and customers.

Oracle is responsible to its own downfall. A Yahoo like collapse is on the cards. I am sure, it will get acquired by Google/MS in the next couple of years

"recent hires in Seattle who were RIFd"

Do tell. Many as in like 2-3?

Most in Seattle were OCI-C restructuring -- wrong place ,wrong time.

Uh, no. Completely inaccurate. You guys can't even keep your negativity points consistent.

Most of the layoffs are of people who have been there 10+ years. That data point puts you in high risk.

Your group was completely removed. You were just in the wrong place, wrong time.
