Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Fusion Procurement IDC

Ppl are running on 5th floor phase 3 and started giving the expert opinion on the people who’re asked to go. Those ppl just don’t the know the basics of their own product. They don’t have guts to ask any questions from their Directors. Managers and Directors are covering each other’s A**.

Hostile work culture! They don’t encourage ppl to ask questions. Most of the managers are 12 years old and they just say one thing with whole Smile is Yes sir. Amd they are safe.

Directors are also doing the same to their Bossess Yes Sir! Poor work, demotivated staff, highly political work conditions.

Work from home is a Prank ! Dont get in tho that ! All the managers and directors are highly conservative and narrow minded.

Stay away from this team / product.

News is all directors run away when their VP comes to India. Ppl literally avoid him ...

No HR support to the employees. In fact, i dont know who is HR for this product

Oracle HR is exactly the same as everyone's else. Think of them as sort of internal police than can be called in if someone violates company rules. All fluff about diversity and workplace culture is an extra and mostly intended to obfuscate true purpose of this department which is to protect company from it's employees.

So much true abt Oracle HR. They can layoff entire HR and outsource hiring and firing function to contractors. HR is dead horse @Oracle. Why pay for dead horse.

Yep, oracle HR is worse than useless from an employee perspective - they are here to protect the company/ management and total screw the employees - never, ever forget that! Ever!

This relates to India offices and experiences could be different in another geography.

At your orientation on joining Oracle. there is a mock exercise, where the trainer plays a quiz by asking "Who is your HR ?".....People immediately respond by naming their BU HR Manager.....The trainer keeps asking this question again, (as obviously the answers provided are wrong).....and keeps repeating the question, till someone responds with , " My reporting manager is my HR manager'..The trainer then tells that , " In Oracle its the manager you report to is your HR Manager'.....This to a wise employees clarifies at the very outset, that (s)he is at the mercy of the reporting manager, and there is no real HR function in Oracle.

In my close to 14 years at Oracle, i never had one direct interaction with my HR executive. In fact many a times (say every 2 years) you learn about your new HR executive when you visit your own profile on the Aria. There is no communication when your new HR is assigned or the previous one gleaves (avg. duration of stay 2 years). The only time I had a direct meeting with a HR was some 9 years back, when a smart HR was conducting some survey, which he could pass off as some work-experience in Oracle for his Resume. ( Else what is their role? considering most of the HR related functions are handled by individual teams or contractors- likes separate ones for recruitment/ negotiation/ training/ retiral benfits/ salary/medical benefits etc.....There is no interaction with your assigned HR at all)

I believe that your BU HR (that is assigned to you on Aria) has only two roles - (1) Conducting exit interviews for an employee who has resigned , and (2) If she is a presentable female, then wearing traditional clothes (sari) and presenting bouquet to a VP level employee visiting India (besides ensuring that the welcome board at the reception says , " Welcome ...Mr. X to IDC/SSI etc.'

Some employees on joining Oracle from other organizations, where HR is a powerful role, make a mistake of opening their heart out to the Oracle HR.....such as complaining about your own manager. in 100% of such cases, I have witnessed the employee being fired in next 30-60 days....If you want answer to the reason, then PLEASE READ THE FIRST PARAGRAPH AGAIN.

Gees, what HR support ? HR job is literally protect interests of the company, nothing less, nothing more. They are not your friends. They are "Advocate for Employees"

---HR Job is not just to "protect interests of the company" . HR executives play an integral part in the success of organizations. In this regard, human resource professionals contribute to building a work environment where employees feel satisfied and motivated.

To promote this outcome, HR leaders deploy effective practices such as employee empowerment, goal setting and open communication, resulting in a positive culture that leads to the workforce delivering better consumer experiences.

The company is corrupt all over. Obviously there are worse areas than others, but don't expect, like I did that you will find a better manager elsewhere. It just doesn't happen. The only solution is to get out and work at a real company.

Get out and let the rats go down with the ship. They destroyed it, they deserve the results.

For your clarification, HR is assigned to PEOPLE. People that work on product lines are assigned to an HR line in Aria but they don't have anything to do with how your specific product is managed. If you feel your manager isn't performing - give HR a call - see how far that gets you. There was just an internal email about the ethics line - maybe that's an option but asking Oracle to provide competent managers is really funny for April 1st holiday.
