Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Does Oracle believe in compensating it's employees?

I have been with the company for many years and haven't received a decent raise or bonus in ages.

Oracle Medical insurance is going up, while Larry Ellison has billions in his pocket.

Don't you think he should throw some money to his employees? We make the company!

Just do the tight thing and better compensate your tenured USA based employees.

Comments appreciated!

Average raises across my team are 15% or more this year. You can make money at Oracle.

In the US, Oracle has become some sort of Indian sweatshop: do you think they will care of compensating their employees with raises, etc...? if you aren't happy, they will replace you on the spot

Adding to the fire...

has anyone seen this article?

The highest-paid CEOs at the largest US companies : https://eu.usatoday.com/story/money/2019/04/30/highest-paid-ceos-at-americas-largest-companies-tim-cook-robert-iger/39389897/

Not really surprised, Safra Catz and Mark Hurd are tied for first place with a staggering $108.3 million in annual compensation! Almost 2x more than 3rd place. Now you know why no one else at Oracle gets any raises here!

"tenured employees?" When you wake up from your dream, take some ownership of your career, otherwise be happy with the no-raise status quo. ORCL owes you nothing, and vice-versa. Good luck.

Nobody will give you a raise or promotion. You have to demand it. If you are worth it then they will pay it. Or if not, if you are worth it you can easily move to another company.

Every raise or promotion i have receive as had to be demanded and fought for. I also threatened to leave on one occasion. On another occasion I had another job offer and Oracle matched it plus a little extra to keep me.

I to suffered the excellent yearly revue sham with no salary increases. Always told budget problems and I was at top of pay scale etc.

I finally managed to request stock grants which had to be negotiated higher up the chain. I was rewarded with 3 year quarterly vesting of significant stock. This kept me at Oracle. I popped the stock every time it vested. I finally left when rumors started around the water cooler.

The bulls..t HR annual revue, I turned into a game.

I used the prior year, cloned it, morphed a few lines, added new project and player names. Obtained new reference review comrades and zoom.

Nobody noticed.

ORACLE does increase the wage and benefits only and only if you are in critical path. That is how it is in software engineering roles. If you are a critical team member (which means you are doing half the work that a team of 7 people should do) then you get hikes in salary and benefits, if you are one of the heads just filling the headcount, you wont.

Have you read any of the postings about raises & comp? The answer to your question is no, Oracle doesn't comp with raises or bonuses and hasn't for a long time (since SC came to town with her spreadsheets). It makes no difference how many billions the execs have, none of it passes down to the employees (unless you're one of the VP's who has a title but no accountability). The company is run only to make money for the shareholders (investors, wall street) not for employees. And I don't agree that "we make the company", most of us were acquired and didn't voluntarily join this rat hole of a sham company. We don't develop technology - we babysit old products that were acquired. We don't make anything.
