Thread regarding Denbury Resources Inc. layoffs

why are updates so focused on stock price?

it made sense when most employees still received stock. but now that most of us don't, it's really only relevant for 85% of us in terms of stock we've received in the past. that's the same whether we work here or not. we're equal to any random investor in that capacity.

to be frank, it's far more relevant how Denbury plans to approach compensation going forward than what does or doesn't happen in the market or even how the company is doing overall.

Attacks maturity, but calls people uneducated for not knowing everything they do. MUST be an engineer sitting up on their high horse.

stock price is important to the health of a company hence it's employees but unless dnr can reduce the mountain of debt there isn't much to say bc the only thing that'll really change the stock is oil price and/or concrete debt reduction plans--management can boost their compensation by cashing in on small upward swings in price tho

The immaturity displayed here is incredible. If you have no understanding of stocks and the health of a company and how it relates to its viability, then you aren't very educated. The stock price of any company impacts all it's employees period. If you feel it's unfair that you don't get stock options (anymore), but you still have a job, you are very short sighted. If it's not "appealing" to stay, GO! The only person keeping you at Denbury is you. Please go and do us all a favor.

i guess that makes more sense for people whose job role is tied to oil. for me it just seems tone deaf - great that the execs and upper management will become more wealthy, but it doesn't do much to retain employees who may be getting offers elsewhere.

many of the things (not all of them, but many) that made Denbury so appealing when i started here have disappeared.

There has to BE a company for the things you mention to matter. Oil price affects our earnings and our stock price and our ability to payoff or refinance debt. Our performance as a company in the next few years will determine our ability to survive as a company. That ls why these topics are important to all of us.
