Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Ranking: Cloud Databases, Storage & IaaS

Here is Gartner’s take (Magic Quadrants) on Cloud DBs, Storage, and Infrastructure… We are doing very good on the DB side, Storage/Infra is not that good…

This is just one of the list of cloud customers on oracle.com . Dig a bit on oracle.com and you can get EU and Apac customers .

https://cloud.oracle.com/en_US/iaas/customers

Dont waste time trying to assume oracle is dying . Reduction in force is needed since a lot of on prem / hardware and other business lines closed .

Take a break guys .

You're confusing cash flow with net profit.

I wouldn't call clearing $10B a year in net profit "breaking even".

$10B doesn't even cover one quarter of stock buybacks. Not much money on that scale. Oracle is losing by sinking money into stock to keep the pockets of the CEOs lined with cash.

That said, companies can “break even”

I wouldn't call clearing $10B a year in net profit "breaking even". Is Oracle stagnant? Oh my, yes, but a lot of large companies would be lucky to clear $10B a year. If you say that they won't be able to sustain that kind of profit in the long haul, you won't get any argument from me.

Gartner gets millions of dollars from Oracle every year - we sponsor many Gartner events, we buy research, data, etc from them.

Go figure why they like us so much.

Oracle is an irrelevant company. That said, companies can “break even”, and technically stay “open” forever with zero growth by constantly reducing costs... thats you

As mentioned in here last week, Gartner has some nice reasons to put ORCL in those MQs.

Those Gartner MQ's are from a year ago. I'd bet that this year Oracle will slip further or even disappear from the IaaS and storage ones.
