You could try arguing about being a higher paid worker makes you older therefore their selection criteria is discrimination, but I think you'd be looking at an expensive legal case followed by a payout that didn't cover the bill, plus all of the stress of multiple years of pursuing it.

I know someone who took CSC to court for unfair dismissal. They won, but it took 2 years and more money than it paid out. During that time the person was unable to get another job because of pending legal judgement.

Whilst the UK has some legal protections around employment, exercising those rights is hard and the penalties to a large company like DXC are so inconsequential that they really don't care. The only time it becomes a real issue is if the employee is VERY highly paid. Your average techy, meh.

Justice only for the rich. Its sad.

"higher paid employees were the prime target group."

Certainly puts them on the board, but the first ones are those personally disliked by senior managers.

I was part of the team that managed the workforce reduction programme in the UK and higher paid employees were the prime target group. This was definitely illegal under UK law, as higher paid equates with older, which breaches the UK's Age Discrimination legislation.

Well you've got some very aspirational leaders in the EU south region.

When asked what “thrive sustainability” means and how it applies to their daily life, here are some of the ideas:

France - Less sh*t (engrais).

Belgium - Turn off the light.

Spain - Collect bottle caps.

Maybe not the kind of innovation Youth for Climate had in mind, but imagine if they sell this disruptive vision to customers at scale.

@YSEPCx9-okh

The focus for the workforce reduction was 1) international function or other region 2) age 3)...

The reason why they focussed on international was, that these people are working for other regions (like many of them worked for North region) - so they are earning money for another region, but are on the cost area for Belgium (which belonged to region South). South was doing badly, but North region was doing very good.

So they fired people even in strategic area's, with high ratings and working for large deals, ... just based on their own numbers and to avoid South from being worse.

also concerning the accounts - when we talk only of Belgium accounts, there are many larger accounts being supported out of Belgium based on historical background. Plus they also do all the IT for the federal government and the national phone company.

so based on pure economics? My a--.

Yes, they fire three top ugliest people every month. There is special steering committee and the contest for the three ugliest and three most beautiful people in the company. Managers secretly nominate their employees. The three ugliest gets kick in their a** and leave the company in hurry. The three most beautiful gets warned at that time, as there is belief they spent too much time taking care about their presence instead of working hard for the company!

If that was the case, head HR would be laid off instead of just getting only one of those two words instead.

Tired of this Belgium story. Wait were you not the one, wherein Belgium folks uploaded a youtube video complaining about DXC. The story is simple, if you do not have much accounts in your region and your cost base is high, companies have to downsize. It is simple economics.

Yes, most of Europe were aware of DXC's antics in Belgium in its disrespect of employees and total disregard for social responsibility. And as for European law - they just trod all over that when they asked management to consider anyone over the age of 45 for redundancy.

'Lookism' (discrimination) is prejudiced against the way a person looks whether beauty (positive) or ugliness (negative) and...wait, why I am I even giving this credence?

Don't be ridiculous, DXC will lay you off only if you're old and have 5+ years in the company, look for the case in Belgium were people was being kicked just for their age
