Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

They say one thing and do another

Was told by boss in tier meeting that leadership says it is important that you can step away, take vacation w/o computer, completely disengage, spend time with family. Very next day in tier we were told improvements not happening fast enough and we need to take it up a notch - more projects and faster completion. Mean while we have no back ups so anyone who takes time off has no back fill - work piles up waiting for your return and other groups complain that work isn't done. Upon return you are asked what your plan is. So step away and disengage and still make it happen. Hypocrites. They really don't care. So many roles anymore at Hon single point failure. Its all about that big buyback plan

Felt that this post by @YKy4lFp-7ljc shines a good light on the way things are done at HON and on the hypocrisy behind it all.

No it is not moral. In fact I contest that it is in violation of the government charging rules to systemically require unpaid overtime. By making the 4 hours of unpaid work a business rule and standard practice for all employees working defense contracts in aerospace the company has defacto changed the charging rate. They are paying labor one number and charging the government based on a different number. The actual cost in dollars is not disclosed as they only report hours and expense to the government. US government should demand a 10% refund for all hours charged. since TM changed the business rules.

This nonsense started when they instituted the "use it or lose it" policy for vacation to prevent paying off for weeks and weeks of vacation accrued before retirement for exactly the reasons noted. Work overtime before and after vacation to do the work that was assigned. And of course, unlimited vacation was just a way to not pay off as part of severance.

Vacation requires you take your spy-phone with you. This way, they can spy on you and hear your conversations and track your whereabouts in personal time.

I’ve often that the ‘unlimited’ vacation policy is disingenuous. The first year or two they’ll hold back on any pushback for vacation but I knew at some point they would begin actively limiting the amount of time off using different tactics.

That's right ! Is it moral for corp to do stock-buy backs, and give executives bonuses while we work unpaid OT ?
