Exit experience

Question for people who quit - what was your exit experience like? What's the process like? Is the two weeks notice necessary or can I just walk out (something I really, really want to do just to make this as hard as possible on my incompetent and vindictive manager who's the main reason I'm leaving CenturyLink?)

They can hear you and see you through your pc. I was making up all kinds of sh?, in front of my PC to throw off my manager and it worked.

Report anything that makes you feel uncomfortable. He will tell his buddies to make you feel uncomfortable.

Managers love to play the passive aggressive game. He will get your team to turn there backs on you. Also in meetings, report any passive aggressive to him in emails. Do not do say anything when it’s happening. Wait till afterwards then call him out on it in the email.

If he puts you on a PIP he’s probably good as gone too. HR knows it takes two to tango. And they will not have any one at there risk.

Your PC is being recorded, open up the Employee Handbook on the corporate website. Pretend you’re reading it. Or just read to burn time. The hand book will give you all the rules to play by. He should be following the handbook. But at the same time not everyone is the same, so what means to one is different to another.

Make sure everything you report are in emails. Heck, the lights are too bright or too dim. Report safety concerns, it might not be a concern to them but all it matters is it’s a concern to you. It’s none of your business what others think is a concern, but it is your business if it’s a concern to yourself.

Once you get on the PIP, you have all the emails and concerns that your manager did not pay attention too.

Took the package June 2018. Got my pension, my 401k, and hauled a--. I got an exit interview, I complained... not no word. Best decision I've made. I feel better health wise, too. It will be 1 year that I left that sh-- hole.

No pens report that, chair is uncomfortable report it. No toilet paper report it. There’s a bad smell report that. You need color pens or highlighter if there’s none report that. Because everyone is different and needs to succeed is different.

Ask him why he doesn’t have an MBA or why he didn’t go to college or why he’s a high school drop out. Then start asking what you need to be in his spot. Your PC is being recorded. So, just take those management courses they offer on the corporate website. Just have it playing on your PC, you don’t have to pay ay attention. Then start applying to management position internally. That’ll pi$$ him off.

Tell him you need this or that to complete your job. Most likely, he’s going to denial your request. Because he want you irritating. Now, on paper or to HR he did not put you in a proper position to succeed.

He’s going to try to make you look like you’re not responding to him. He’s going to have his buddies tell him when you’re not at your desk. Do the same back to him, keep bothering him make something up that you need him because there is a problem. That will show HR that you are responding to the job.

The worst you can do is be quiet, that’s what he wants. When your quiet he can make up all kinds of lies and have his buddies or fellow managers to back him up. Don’t let that happen, bother the living sh— out of him.

He’s going to try to intimidate you. He’s going to tell his buddies to follow you around and write down everything you do. It’s usually the guys with long tenure. Don’t let that intimidate you. Just keep doing what you been doing

Seems like your manager is doing everything he can to get rid of you. Managers play dirty, get a fan for your desk and an air quality monitor. Because even window cleaner will get you dizzy.

There’s a way to get your exit interview with HR. Get on a PIP- Performance Improvement Plan. From there every meeting you have with your manager. Even though it’s not announced, HR is in the background listening to you and your manager. Then quit after the plan.

My last day the my supervisor didn't even have the decency to show up. I called the MRO and asked what to do and they actually had to have a supervisor come in from another area and take my keys and sign for my tools. He was as p-ss-d as i was. They make no big deal of you leaving no matter if you have 30 years as i did or 30 days. It's a bother to get rid of you.

There is a former CST that worked with us that got the package a year ago and he STILL hasn't been paid any of his severance package or unemployment. Make sure your ducks are in a row before the throw you out the door.

Every time he calls them they are "checking on it" and will get back to him.

Make sure you get contacts for future references. Some managers don’t and will not give references. Mine didn’t. Jobs don’t care if the references are from your direct managers or not.

they’ll give you 15 minutes to say your byes to friends, then walk you out the door. No interfacing with HR, no exit meeting. You will not get unemployment, but unemployment is next to impossible to get these days even leaving on good terms. Just don’t count on unemployment.

An outside source will call you within two weeks to help you with your retirement on the options. Either roll over to a an ira or when you get a new job roll over to that 401k etc... Also options on Health insurance. There’s still more I don’t recall. You get the point.

You won't hear a word. HR doesn't even do an exit interview. If you are a tech, make sure to document all your tools are returned and test gear, so they don't try to come back on you three weeks after your gone and accuse you of stealing their c-ap and try to take it out of your pay.

They won't even know your name in a month and you will not hear a peep out of the people you worked with for years. It's like you never worked there, except for the high blood pressure and health problems they gave you.

Don't expect anything..... Colleagues that I am still friends with, once they handed in their notice, they received no contact from HR, their manager, or anyone else; even after contact HR to ask questions. You're suddenly last week's garbage (sorry to say).
