Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Instead fire engineers, Oracle should fire her managers

I am from China...China Oracle managers are a big interest group, In a sense, they are really not working. they are not contributing.. I can't see their values...

they are always busy with all variety of meetings or push themselves forward... showing off meaningless things.

they don't have actual work, they are very free and because they are free they have time to making different problems... because only having problems, LE will need them...

Oracle's collapse is starting.. thanks to these managers.

If LE really love oracle, he should fire them firstly....

To correct, there are not only 1 interest group , there are several interest group fight and compromise with each other.

'This is a universal problem. Even IDC suffers from th same disease.'

I am from consulting company. A consulting company never like this... A director/manager should have his own value.... really need to work.. In a project, if a manager doesn't make earnings, he should be the 1st one to be fired.. not like oracle... Oracle/SAP is unique... This is why they finally will fail.

As someone mentioned in the loop, this is the same issue in IBM, HP, Cisco, etc... Those companies have 'deep pocket' but they won't last forever, if there were another rescission during the period that the company had put lots of money on a risk business, they will die. There are many examples, Moto, Nokia, Lucent, NortelNetworks etc... Let's see.

We'd have better management and product development if the 3 stooges were replaced by an invading horde of roomba's - that's the ticket! Let's have robots take over (and they could also clean up the dirty mess left by all the corruption too)

"...would be a lot of money there to hire real architects and technical people who would actually know what they were doing. Lot of waste in paying layers of directors that contribute nothing to the company."

You don't understand that Oracle doesn't need "engineers", they acquire all the technology they want to sell and haven't invented anything for decades. It's all other people's IP that was brought in house and they only need a small group of engineering people to maintain it.

Yeah, just removing the two useless CEOs would chop off $200 million a year, you add a bunch of equally useless EVPs and some non-value adding SVPs and you save some $500 million a year right there PLUS gain billions more because they won’t be able around to screw everything up. A winning move if there ever was one!

Oracle could seriously remove half the management and it would have no effect. But would be a lot of money there to hire real architects and technical people who would actually know what they were doing. Lot of waste in paying layers of directors that contribute nothing to the company.

I think it's pretty much the same in the U.S. At least, the management that I worked with was intensely corrupt. They do nothing but sit around in meetings and B.S. to each other. They run scams to attack other managers and groups and they manipulate their employees horribly.

Maybe there are still some areas where there is good management, but it wasn't where I was working. I left. I think anyone who can, should leave the company.

Looking at the OCI org chart, you have to laugh at the number of managers. It's insane. Yes, they laid a few off, but they laid way more developers off.

Why is Oracle in China in the first place? The Chinese communists steal our technology.

Sound like a perfect job. No work and high salary

Engineers work hard and are the first to go. They should follow the managers’ example.

Starts with the fact that the 3 stooges are terrible managers and LE has never cared about management and making sure that oracle managers are competent - it takes a level of effort that LE has never been willing to make.

It’s same in APAC. It’s a political party. No work. The best people have gone.
