Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

Severance info

I keep seeing comments about the lump sum severance going away and it actually went away about 7 years ago. Apparently people don't keep up with this stuff. Just so you know, the current severance plan is always listed on the intranet site for anyone to see - look under Total Rewards on the HR site under My Benefits, select "other benefit plans" and you will see "reduction in force." So around 7 (?) years ago the lump sum severance changed so that payments were made every payday just as in a regular associate. Not so bad really. But this new structure that requires that you submit for unemployment and Anthem makes up the difference is about 2 years old - it changed while Jacquie Wolf and Joe Swedish were at the helm.

Important info on severance posted by @YBzub82-8jid. Needed to be in its own thread so more people could see it.

I believe most if not all of the Associates let go this month had 4/26 as their last day. Personally, I know a lot of people let go this time and some of them I have worked with for a number of years and are all good workers in my opinion. Unfortunately most of them are victims of this ridiculous work place strategy where you are given the choice to move out of state or be let go and even if you did choose to move there is no guarantee you will be safe from future RIFs. Thanks a lot Anthem, way to stick it up to your associates.

My last day at Anthem is today, after getting hit with the Workplace Tragedy.

No lump sum, bi-weekly payments, making up my salary after state unemployment.

Must keep up with state rules; if I fall off state plan, Anthem stops paying. When I get a job, they will pay a lump sum of half the remainder. Unless it's with Anthem. Like that's gonna be high on my list.

I believe this supplemental severance payment will also stop as soon as you gain new employment even before the 6 month maximum period is reached. Again another hit for the associate and gain for Anthem.
