This industry has been really bad for employees for over a decade. It's not just Allstate - literally the entire industry. If you are lucky enough to get a chance to leave all of this behind, grab it.
This is one of the few cases where the grass really is greener on the outside.

I've been with Allstate for about 5 months which is about 5 months longer than I should have stayed. This is what I see: there are two classes of Allstate employee- the before 2014 changes in benefits and the after. The After do all the work and the Before take all the credit. The Before get 4 times the days off etc., the After get their work to try to complete without overtime. The Before treat the office like a mail-boxes etc. for their packages and the After get the pleasure of taking the new beach lounge chair to the Before's empty desk and adding it to the pile of boxes that are picked up maybe once a week... If you are a Before, Allstate is a sweet deal, if you are looking to start here as an After, think long and hard about working somewhere else.

The Northeast Region has been mismanaged for years. It’s an absolute joke.
I worry constantly for the Northeast. This is like grade school before you go to Jr. High. Our office is a joke.
Here in the Northeast everyone who could has already move to Erie Insurance, a much better company to work for.
Well said. You can have a successful career, have positive views on Allstate as an employer, and still choose to move on.
On the other hand Allstate is an amazing training ground for not just insurance. Allstate:
demands ethical behavior,
devotes a great deal of effort to performance management processes,
development tools are readily available to those who seek them,
you can see many areas of the insurance industry without leaving the campus,
has comparable benefits packages to others.
No I am not an employee, I was for almost 30 years and am thankful for what Allstate gave me the opportunity to do personally and professionally. Why did I leave then? Had achieved what I would at Allstate and looked for a new and different insurance journey.
I agree. This company is just a stepping stone. Understaffed and underpaid.
