Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

why IC5 has no stock options while IC4 has

during layoff, I suddenly find the IC4 hired from outside has a large amount of stock options, while I am old IC5 promoted internally.

Is this fair?

Why oracle treats internal staff unfairly and gives high benefits to these outsided hires.

it is typically hurting us.

This is true. I'm an IC5 who knows nothing.

RSUs and pay increase are purely a function of your asskissing skills and willingness. A different definition of merit and view of whom you want to keep around - very specific to oracle for sure. Starts with boss man LE, ad his fragile ego that can take no feedback or criticism and his never ending desire to be admired and have his as kissed.

RSUs are the way to keep valued people, that's exactly the reason why they vest over 4 years. Same people also get pay rises every year, contrary to popular belief that Oracle does not do them.

So if you don't get either, well, I've heard there are employers that offer 150% hike to ex-Oracle people.

Could be they don't care if you leave. Could be you might be laid off in next round? Could be anything.

I got RSU's as an IC3 when I joined Oracle but nothing after that, I just left after 5 years, took the stock and moved to a better job with more money and acted like a tech company. Oracle never gave me a raise or bonus after I was hired but I did get 2 promotions but no money. I left as M3 as a promotion with lateral pay - they told me I "might" get a pay bump next fiscal year but I didn't wait around. The politics are extreme and the management is non-existent. I disliked my team, the bad working conditions and especially dealing with about 10 acquisitions and influx of new people who didn't accept they'd been acquired. Constant fighting about policies and why they didn't need to follow Oracle rules. Life is much better now. If you have stock - cash it in and run as fast as you can from this mess.

If you want to really be upset, go look at the conversations on blind about salary and stock in oci. This is nothing new. O must pay pay market prices to get new people. Also, certain areas and skills are more competitive and require these perks to attract talent. Apparently some areas of O see regular increases and rsu while many have seen nothing for years. Is it fair that the lobs that are generating the revenue don't see increases and options while that revenue is being used to prop up the as-yet unprofitable future of the company but they do see increases and stock? This is based on what I see on the other anon site so maybe it wrong. But what you are seeing is normal. If there is a rare chance to hand out stock, it only goes to one or two people and it does not matter ic4 or ic5. Does it hurt O? Not really. I'm sure O does not care. If you do not like your comp, you are free to leave, would be the feeling.

Do you get it? There's nothing that Oracle does that's fair to employees, they do as little as legally possible and don't care about you or your work. Only that you do what management tells you and you don't whine about raises and promotions. It's astonishing that young people continue to join this horrible company that gives you nothing and discards you when they feel like it. The only benefit that keeps me here is working remotely and not having to commute (or deal with obnoxious managers and play office politics)

Its widespread. I'm an M4 and have no RSUs while several ICs have them. Its Oracle's way of saying "we value our employees" 4

Oracle management practices are autocratic. Hail Hitler, Hail Larry!

There's no formal plan or reason for who gets stock options. It's 100% discretionary and you negotiate that before you accept a job, if you don't - you're at the mercy of your future manager/VP to allocate to you. And hardly anyone I know has ever gotten much stock after joining. You aren't ranked with anyone else at IC4 or IC5 - there's no equality at Oracle. Your grade level and salary are not aligned to anything except what you negotiate. ANd it's true that your future raises (ha ha if you ever see one) have nothing to do with job performance, it's only how much your manager likes you and if you're in a group that's making money.

It's not just about stock options, IC4 might be getting a better salary too. It's all a cycle. At the time of joining this great awesome company one gets a chance to negotiate salary and unfortunately that's the only chance you get NO MATTER what you do as a oracle employee..
