Thread regarding Ford layoffs

The big 3 usually make either poor future product planning decisions or poor execution of designs

I worked for many years for all the big 3 and finally for Japanese OEM. So I can make the comparison...yes the big 3 usually make either poor future product planning decisions or poor execution of designs and hence in desperation take the short term approach by cutting people to improve the balance sheet...short term panic ...Japanese OEM took long term perspective understanding the layoffs of people is wasting of valuable resources that have been trained with reservoir of experience, during the last big recession in 2008-2009, had no layoffs...yes there was belt tightening but no ‘the sky is falling we don’t know what to do so let’s cut headcount mantra’. Regardless what the highest levels of Big 3 management says in the press....autonomous driving, need to electrify powertrains, lack of rainfall, the real reason is they have failed and do not know what else to do in a short term panic....now put your watch on your right hand till GM gets back 25% of the US market…

Couldn’t have said it better myself. This is a repost from @Y9JzeKr-lhw
