Boeing 737 MAX trouble and their impact on Honeywell

Boeing is getting in trouble, with the 737 MAX affair, airplanes grounded, airlines planning to demand compensation and cancelling orders. Boeing is important customer for Honeywell and its trouble may impact projects with Honeywell and Honeywell's revenue. Should we be worried?

According to this place:

BAE does the flight controls, my guess is they implement requirements provided by Boeing.

From my own research so far, it appears Boeing may be holding the whole bag on this one. I haven't been able to establish a supplier, either. However if you read the Boeing thread on this website someone has suggested that there may have been a software "off-shoring". But who knows except the insiders (and the guilty).

MCAS is not a Rockwell (now Collins Aerospace) box. I'm still trying to figure out who makes it, initially assumed it was Honeywell.

Honeywell didn't get this contract, lost the bid - so no skin off Honeywell's nose there.

Boeing just stood up an avionics business to compete with Honeywell and Rockwell. Of course they are pushing systems internal. The MCAS though is a kludge fix for a large design error discovered late in the cycle.

Honeywell deserves every kick-off it gets. The company officers don't give a ratsazz about customers.

Boeing is getting what they deserve for a variety of reasons but this time seems to have nothing to do with Honeywell, at least.

But who trusts self-policing and self-certification? Even worse, complete privatization of the FAA.

So this "MCAS" was a Boeing designed Kludge? Price paid for running traditional suppliers (HON) off the plane?

To 3uoz

Same leadership, same results. No way I'd let Honeywell automate a garbage disposal let alone an aircraft, that's just an accident waiting to happen.

I saw on the news that pilots were given a tablet with updated training about how to disengage the computer when it caused a problem. Wonder if it was like the Honeywell training?

to 1wmc, please don't confuse the good people who design and produce aircraft and ground automation systems with those who mandate and administer outside companies commercial operating systems.

Who in their right mind would use a Honeywell automation system? I can't honestly believe that anyone who has worked at Honeywell would recommend that, TeamCenter or the SAP implementation anyone? Honeywell can't make their own internal systems work reliably.

Nah. Aerospace is still cooking. I do wonder if Boeing screwed up in going with a do-it-yourself system instead of some prior Honeywell or Rockwell system? Pure speculation on my part but I have heard that Boeing was pushing Honeywell systems off in favor of Boeing developed systems. Can anyone comment on this?
