Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Is there anybody who is not looking for another job?

Just wondering, is there one person still at Xerox who believes in this company and is not trying frantically to find a new position elsewhere?

Yes. There was the post a few days ago from a Xerox person who said something like "I'll just sit here can collect my ridiculously high salary and wait for them to lay me off".

I doubt this person is working very hard.

I agree we should all be prepared. It’s hard to stay positive when there is so much out of our control going on and no one seems to know not even core Presidents. I am preparing myself and I am excited about life after XBS it can only get better. I am just sad this is the way my career here has ended.

GIS/XBS culture will be missed but we will always have the connections. Hopefully one day these connections will help us.

Even if you don’t want to look for a job, you should at least be prepared. Update your resume and Linked In. Make some LI connections, get endorsements, become active posting once or twice a week. Join a professional organization or two and start making connections. Learn how to optimize your resume for submission to an ATS (applicant tracking system). Brush up on your interview skills. These tools and skills can be utilized whether you ever leave Xerox or not.

That said, it never hurts to check out what’s out there. You may find something even better than what you have at Xerox. I was laid off last fall and now have a job elsewhere. All I can say is that I wish I had left sooner.

It’s very clear Xerox is on a clear path to destruction. The clowns running the show will start selling the business piece by piece. Face the facts .... it’s a dying business. Get out and look while one can. It’s much easier to look while you have a job. For those that think a Tech Powerhouse is being formed.....you will be in for a rude awakening.

In my field there are many jobs. I have no fear of not finding a job within a week. Why abandon what is a good paying job because of uncertainty?

The writing is not on the wall.

I know people who are riding it out since they are close to retirement. However, anyone in their 40s and early 50s should be looking.
