Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Aero Engineering now are getting higher OT demands

So it sounds like our revered Aero Engineering VP Ellis is demanding that his organization be mandated to increase their overtime from the 10% to now 15%. Count me in as one of the folks that will test what not doing that incurs! BS to the extreme, the first 10% came right after we laid off good engineers cuz we were out of any bad ones, now they are having attrition due to conditions and they want the folks left to work even more. This after we get a 2.5% raise pool while Trump's stupid tax changes gave them a ton more money. What a crock

The cause could be just as simple as a lot of other stupidity or abuses. A voice at the top says "Make the numbers!" and this is the response. Can't hire enough engineers because we have headcount quotas, so work the ones we have more.

I was told today that this order was coming down from someone above Ellis. Anyone know if there's water to that?

innovation and breakthroughs --- there are none because corporate spent 5 billion in stock by-backs in 2016 while we suffered with RIFs, furoughs, and pay freeze. And Timmy boy got his bonus that year like Every year!

I'm surprised these cry baby engineers haven't asked for a charge number to post here because you know they have to increase their EEI.

The sad part is that all that OT is to advance non-value add work likr dealing with organizational dysfunction, collecting metrics, preparing slide deck presentations to justify why you are behind plan, escalations of the escalations, doing your manager's and other manager's job because you are more committed to the project than they are. If OT was to do something so foreign to Honeywell like innovation and breakthroughs, this thread would not exist.

There will be enough direct charge as time goes on due to attrition/lack of hiring...so don't worry about that

Just out of curiosity, are there enough direct charge hours available to support this edict and if so for how long?

Like anyone at the sites that have been notified are closing want to do it or will unless they are moving. If I don’t do it are they going to deny my severance or fire me? Not likely. Not working OT isn’t just cause! Working OT is totally warranted when you have a lot of work, but packing boxes or training and hiring our replacements for Deer Valley, Clearwater, Olathe and PR!? He’ck no!

@XwUJSkX-frh I think everyone knows and understands putting extra hours and efforts to get a project over the finish line, to meet or exceed customer exceptions. But what is being demanded now from employees each and every week is a minimum of six hours or an extra day each and every week of the year, not just for the special project. which assuming some vacation would be around another 30days of unpaid compensation. now if everyone shared in the success and profits of that effort I do not think you would be seeing people complain. But no its only upper leadership that views themselves as worthy of sharing in those profits.

P.S for record just to be clear you really seem to be an incredible Douche. Probably with initials like JE or TM...

Here we are again...salaried employees complaining about working more than 40 "hours a week" and trying to rationalize they are hourly employees and being denied OT. Salaried get paid by the year, not day/hour and all other non-engineering salaried employees know there's no such thing as a 40 hour a week job. Welcome to 2019 children.

I will be actively looking for a new job soon.

Leadership at this company is incompetent. They want us all to quit.

I am a Manager in Engineering, and we are as frustrated as anyone over this. We were told by VPs to put people in the outer L that did not meet EEI, but then we are told we cant mention EEI in the performance reviews, or put it in peoples goals because legal says we cant. And yet, weekly reports are being run down to the individual to measure their EEI. I am truely ashamed to be a manager in this company. Yes, I am looking for another job. There is no motivation to be a manager at Honeywell, any hint of ethics are long gone.

I would whole heartily welcome a union drive at this point. This is being driven from the top, so there is nothing short of a union that can stop this.

After hearing that in Glendale..... folks, it is time to embrace the horror . Yes we must go for collective bargaining --- unionization. The big bosses do not care about us.

Meeting with my manager in Glendale today for Reliability , told us about the 15% OT . Said Timmy wanted 20 %. I will refuse because of two reasons : ONE: Title 7 of civil rights act on religious discrimination. It is my belief God intended that man be paid for every hour of labor. Also how can I tithe on free OT , you Honeywell management tell God that.

TWO: Due to Cardio-vascular condition.

They not like it then I got a better deal for them . I give them the finger,

and they give me my retirement.

This is only the beginning. It won't stop until everyone has quit out of frustration, or drops dead at their open floor plan desk. They haven't shown an ounce of concern about the workforce this far, why should they start now?

Engineering really needs to organize, like yesterday. Too many of the olds are brainwashed against unions, unfortunately.
