Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

BNYM Layoffs & Share Price Thoughts?

Today the stock market as a whole had a good day. BK has been down over the last few months, today it's up around $52.90 which is +. I wonder if towards the middle/end of next week after more layoffs come, if this will have any impact on share price given that word may spread in the financial/banking industry.

From my understanding when a company executes a lot of layoffs, it can yield a sign of weakness. It seems BNYM is trying to cut expenses to pillow the lack of projected or expected revenue. Any thoughts on if this will affect share price?

Cutting expenses when the business is not permanently impaired is usually a good thing for the stock. Ex: cutting expenses at JC Penney or Sears is/was bad sign for stock Cutting expenses at BNY or Morgan investors like - stock up

All (most) bank stocks were up today, even Morgen Stanley who just had a bad quarter. A short term fluctuation doesn’t mean much.
