Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Worried about available jobs

I haven't been laid off yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if I get the dreaded call before this whole thing is done. My biggest issue is the availability of jobs for people who are in their fifties that are actually good and pay decently.

I've been checking online, and all I'm finding are horror stories from anybody over 50, or even 40 in some cases. Is this really what the situation is like currently?

Remember that bad news gets posted much more frequently than good. I was fortunate to find a great new job in my 50’s as were other co-workers. Stay strong, reach out to everyone you know, use recruiters and definitely engage a professional to look over your resume. Keep a positive attitude because that shows. Much luck and best wishes.
