It’s just being packaged as position elimination. It is a neat way to let go of undesirables and create a loophole to avoid litigation. Just say, your position is being eliminated. Yeah, that’s the ticket. You are basically left with no recourse because it’s not as if they are firing you. The “great minds” at work at NYPH surely concocted this novel and neatly packaged mechanism surely with the aid of HR and Legal. It is a pity because many loyal and talented people who had been there from months to many years are just coldly told that their time is up. The effect this has on these people and families...the damage and real distress...is immeasurable. Then this hospital wonders why they continue to slide in the rankings and why staff feels disenfranchized and expendable. The new key word is innovation and technology but some dim witted higher ups repeat it like parrots without knowing the true implication and viability of this. But, who cares, right? If something doesn’t pan out, they just “eliminate positions”. Neat, right? We truly see darker days for this once great institution. If you doubt this, just see how many lawsuits they are piling up. Sooner or later, these new tactics to reduce staff ( read costs) will catch up to them. It is not even subtle. It is advisable they stay tuned. When you act in bad faith, it is only a matter of time.

Agree. Was a NP there and all they care about is discharging you as soon as you walk in. Have heard that a purge is going on recently. Not really layoffs, just getting rid of folks in sneaky ways. Found the adminstrators to be capricious and actually low education. Some emails were actually so poorly written you would think it was written by a high school dropout. Agree that this hosp has plummeted big time. So sad to see.
