Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

No media coverage of AIG layoffs?

As far as I can see, this goes well beyond the standard “a few here, a few there” layoffs, but I can’t say that I’ve seen that they have been reported anywhere in the media. Are the journalists that interested in stuff like this?

There is so much that the media could report on about what has been and what is going on at AIG. No raises. Pension taken away. Over paid CEO. Under paid employees. Age discrimination. RIF's that have been going on for a long time making sure to do it in a way to stay under the radar. The way that AIG handles RIF's. That alone is so humiliating for an employee RIF'd. It may take a little time but soon the media will catch on and start reporting this. This all needs to be in the public eye.

Someone should make the Media aware of this site and then maybe we would get some coverage.

Yes Post ID: @XWwtob5-1tva , you are so correct. Pay raises are a joke and for the most part non existent at AIG. Staying at same pay for several years, many at 10 years. Cost of living goes up, and bottom line, pay at AIG goes down when you consider the benefits that they have taken away as well as no raises. They are always looking at ways to decrease your earnings: Pay or Benefits, so that Management and Leaders can thrive

Let’s talk about the raises based on merit. I my group. Manager is allowed to make a merit raise recommendation and then the VP hacks it up and distributes the pool of money to the favorites. Oh sure it’s based on merit alright. Not. It’s a joke and unfair. Let’s call it the way it really is.

No raise here in 10 years and I have confirmed with my co-workers they are not seeing any increases either. Must be a select group that gets raises.

The disgrace for these layoffs is not that raises were or were not given - rather the deceitful manner in which they are being executed while CEO revolving door pays millions. A 70 plus year old CEO with already 43 million pay has absoultly nothing to lose no matter what happens. Again the executive pool is being generously compensated and their departures are aligned with allowing them to get the most money something that is not afforded to the common working class.

There have been raises - not automatic 3%/year type of raises but more selective ones that were supposed to be based on merits. Saying there was no raise during the past 10 years is simply false.

Lay offs are happening yes, but not the way they happen at AIG. We are the only company that I know of that hasn't had raises in 10 years. Sad.

To the last post - maybe but I bet they don’t have a CEO who is one of the 10 highest paid and loosing money while paying other exec millions. Aside from being able to maintain proper confidentiality of customer information as they dimenish the ability to track and pick up electronic equipment.

The layoffs are happening everywhere, not just AIG, especially companies that are losing money. Hardly worth a note.

They probably treat 80 pine and 175 water as separate sites. But a decent lawyer can get around that.

Unfortunately AIG has been under the radar with layoffs keeping it less than 250 per site within a month. This invalidates the massive layoff claim the media likes to put even though so far from what i know the overall number is close to 700

I know there are lots of people who were RIF'd that continue to follow on this site and support those going through the pains of not knowing what is going to happen from day to day. I wish that one of them would go to the news outlet and one that is located in NYC near our Home Office and televise something about the RIF's
