Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Training our replacements

Anybody else currently not having enough work as it is but has been instructed to train new employees to do the same job?

Am I being paranoid, or am I training my own replacements?

Those who have been laid off recently, have you experienced something like this?

The model in US is to have 110% - 120% allocation for salaried employees, since > 100% is free labor. NOT really you can only do maybe 80% if that anyway, no one can do more than 100% unless you put in more than your 40 - 50 hour week. I won't work more than 50 anymore. Its not like its life or death for anyone. Miss a target date, they move back the target...NO BIG DEAL

When the client I was assigned to started noticing the quality issue, they complained and asked DXC to fix it. DXC's response was to label them as a problem client saying that they did not understand how enterprise business works.

My last task (as directed by my bosses) before I got out of there was to meet with the client to formulate a strategy to get the client to buy-out the contract so that we did not have to deal with them anymore.

It reminds me of the demotivator poster for Apathy - if we don't take care of the customer, maybe they'll stop bugging us.

Training your replacement is a norm with DXC (previous CSC) . I saw it it during my ten year and I did it myself . So when that task was bestowed upon myself , I knew my days were numbered . You also realize that if you have been there for a long long time , you have become too expensive for them. Its not the mature level of experience they want. Its not the high level of customer service they require. They simply want the cheapest measure to maintain the same price of the existing contract .

Let me put this on a "cutting the steak" metaphor. The leaders have decided to replace the current , marinated steaks that are on the table with grocery brand cut frozen salisbury steak and wants to pass it off as the previous NY 2" choice cut .

And thats when yours and the Clients internal lightbulb goes on. You see your employer for what they truly are and so does the CLIENT.

Just realize that its NOT you . The employers made that decision and this particular employer does not let the client know of the changes . But they do notice . Because I have noticed past clients interested in what I am doing now . "Why would they be interested in what I am doing ?" I ask myself . Is it because I gave a better professional service they required? If I was so bad , why would they be interested in my career ? Im just a small piece of the working machine. Or was I ?

DXC take note : You are getting rid of far more experienced people than you know . Maybe I was an inconvenience to them , because my experience and being aware of the dealings that go on just meant I knew too much more than they wanted me to know and I was right .

Not my problem anymore . I know I gave great service . The proof that previous clients are interested in what I am doing now proves that point .

Knowing who you are and what you offer on a legitimately honourable and ethical manner , out ways any method a deceptive company can attempt to control.

Enjoy the Cooked from frozen Salisbury Steak . I hope you at least get a named brand bottle of ketchup with it .

Keep in mind some accounts are requiring backups for everyone. They are becoming concerned about DXC barebones staff and what risks to them it poses.

In your case though, I would be worried because I have NEVER seen anybody of value not have enough to do. The model in US is to have 110% - 120% allocation for salaried employees, since > 100% is free labor.

I mostly spend my time on trainings and other stuff as I have little to nothing to do during the day however now with the "account" oriented model my new Indian manager has been pretty pressing on that I need to train my "backup" of course someone from India, if I'm lucky I am training my replacement and soon will get my wfr check

Yes you are training your replacement. It’s part of your boss’ risk treatment plan to ensure resilience of the team. So he will say it is right that any team encourage new blood; new ideas and other stuff to make you feel you are still a valid part of the team with your experience (kiss of death keyword), so that you don’t leave prematurely without completing the new starts training. So I would suggest you embark on your own risk mitigation and start looking.
