Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Fake News on Site

I had to repost because people on this site looking for news on company are drowned with fake news like one below. When have we ever gotten raises in the last 8 years at least based on minimum wage going up ... this is nothing new.. post relevant stuff please.

——————-

They will have you sign a form that says that your benefits can change at any time. That you cannot sue or go to an arbitrator if/when benefits or job codes change. Also, the form will say that if/when minimum wage increases you will not be given a raise in line with your position.

For example: if you make $1.00 over minimum wage now, lets say you make $9.00 and minimum wage is $8.00, if minimum wage raises to $8.50, you will not get a raise to $9.50 to keep you at $1.00 above minimum wage. So in theory, if you have been given raises or have taken a higher position for more money, if minimum wage goes up, you could be making the same amount as someone who just started.

The manager for the store I work in promised that we'd all get what's coming to us. I take him at his word.

We used to discuss this all the time amongst ourselves at work about how new hires come in making the same pay as someone working there for years.

Some people held onto the hope that they would finally get a raise when the minimum wage goes up.

Our store closed for good several months ago, but the way things were going with the company, we figured that had the store stayed open and the minimum wage had gone up, they would have just cut hours to offset the higher minimum wage anyway.

I don't see anything fake about the referenced post either....

Looks to me that the OP simply did not like what he/she was reading and took it upon him/her self to dismiss it as "fake".

O.P-- What is fake about what you posted? What the person posted in another thread was totally correct. There have been no raises since 2008 and the only raises that you would get is if you took another position, like going from a cashier to a lead. In many states where they minimum wage increased the pay for the people who had taken a new position at more pay did not increase. If minimum wage was $9.00 and hour in your state and it increased to $10 and hour and as a lead or supervisor you were already making $10 and hour, you did not get an increase to $11 an hour, you stayed at $10 and hour. So you were making just as much as someone who started yesterday.

Also, if you have worked for this company for more that four years you would know that you have already signed the form that said you would not get a raise in proportion to minimum wage going up and you also signed a form that said you could not sue SHC if and when there were benefit changes or job code changes. So what is fake news about the post?

Op is correct. Compensation has always been below market value. And there have been no pay increases since 2008 unless you were promoted. As min wage rose, your hourly only rose if you were below. As a result newbies walked in the door and were making as much as 10 year associate.

Not sure why you had to repost this. This was posted on another thread, the question was "Are they gonna cut the benefits at the new Company?" and this was just one person's opinion on it ( @XJHPJ2D-ygt ), cause non of us does know that for sure. So, the way I see it, the only fake news is the one you created by posting this @XKOP1m7 thread.

20 / hr for management is not that great but better than min wage I guess. Service at Sears starts a tech with no experience over 21 an hr. There are techs that make well over 30 an hr. And for the ones who don't believe that you must not perform or live in the right area

I was a backroom lead/store support lead in WA state. When the minimum wage went up to $12/hr, I was still at my $12.50/hr, earning only 50 cents more than someone who did not have supervisory responsibilities. I was not going to tolerate that and left in short order and now I earn $20/hr as a hourly manager somewhere else.
