It would be nice to know how people who have been laid off in the past several months are doing on finding new jobs.
I know one of my former coworkers is still searching after nearly half a year, so it would be reassuring if people know others who have managed to land a new position already.
I'm from India. I'm not sure where OP is from. I was let go on 22nd January. I got an offer 3 weeks later. I've taken time off for myself. I'll be joining the new company in March second week.
I was let go at the end of 2017, and found a job by Spring 2018. It’s possible to find a job, don’t let anyone else make you feel inferior.
I left on my own early last year (I was not laid off) but I saw the signs of what might be happening. I obtained a new role, paying more money. What shocked me the most was how satisfied and happy the new office was. The different ways they engage the employees, etc. Being away from that toxic environment has been a breath of fresh air.
Nope. over 50 here, laid off last year and can't find a job that pays even close to what I was making.
If you're over 50 and you get laid off, you're done.
I'm going to have to sell my home this spring, as I am feeling pretty hopeless about finding a job at VP level to last me until age 60.
A manager I know was laid off late last year. He found a new job within a month. The new job is a mile from his house, pays more than BNY Melanoma, and he said he still can't get used to going to a place where people are happily engaged in their work.
All the other people I know who got laid off were long-time employees who plan on using up their layoff money before looking for another job.
