Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Horrible company - full of hypocrites, lazy senior staff and lousy managers

Weighing bc my husband is more classy than i am but he got laid off last week and what's completely terrible is that they basically used the most BS, nonsensical petty excuse to say it was for cause. We now see that there are layoffs everywhere and know now that he was just s---er punched by his chainsmoking, old single, lousy manager. His recent performance review was stellar so to do that to him is shameful. For the past few days we've both been in a state of shock, asking ourselves how a company could fire someone for such a stupid reason as it did not stack up. Eff these people - this company is awful and i hope it goes bankrupt and at the very least will be run into the ground by their awful way of doing business. Anyone not laid off should seriously consider their other options asap.

After reading your post I have to comment. This is a multi billion dollar company. HR would never just let somebody get fired for just "cause". However "JUST CAUSE" would be deemed appropriate. Maybe you should ask your husband who is apparently on a leash, exactly what the "cause" was as he would of been informed upon termination. Did they give him chances? How long did he work here? Kinda sounds like you should probably interrogate him before going on a rant of which you obviously are clueless about. One more thing, I can only imagine his embarrassment regarding your comments. I feel bad for him.

You have managed to communicate exactly 3 things with your post and subsequent comments. 1. You have frequently ignorant temper tantrums 2. You do not fact check 3. You have no problem

emasculating your husband in public; Breadwinner? Ouch. Not a very healthy marriage there.

This did not start this week. First it started last year right before Christmas as it does every year. It then has been the last 3 Monday and this week Tues, and Wed. Next week again for 3 days. So we all aren't out of the woods yet. Next week is India, but after their holiday.

It's unfortunate about the layoffs but they didn't start until this week. You sure he wasn't fired and just not being honest with you? I say that because nobody at BNY gets "stellar" reviews.

Umm, if it was for cause, the term isn't "laid off", it's "fired"

I suppose the cause was that he was leaking confidential company information to his no good and none too bright spouse?
