Looks like DS1 repair in a Seattle will be moving to Salt lake and force surplus to that group. Voluntary separation packages were also given to the Seattle provisioning testers. Rumors that there will be more voluntary packages given within the next few weeks and then forced layoffs will follow. All systems Classic CTL (CenturyTel, Embarq, and Qwest) will have a GUI interface so that the Level 3 folks can work in all systems without needing to actually learn any of those individual systems. Question is, shouldn’t the company be bringing back work from the outsourced centers as it states in the contract? Where is the Union in all of this? Has anyone else heard news about what is going on and why our work is continuing to be outsourced against the language in the contract?

The GUI systems are largely being offshored TO vendors, not likely to come back, even though Level 3 as an IXC/CLEC had a lot of bad orders submitted by their vendors. So, they know it didn't work how they wanted it to, but are doing it again anyway.
