Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

More and more people leaving for better jobs ...

More and more people leave each week... its like a overloaded dam with a leak...

wait for the new year when we are post-bonus with less benefits, days off, and cubicles (except for Alpo and team)

Thinking HR is gonna improve the culture is akin to thinking pharmaceutical companies want a cure for cancer. Think of the jobs they Create for themselves with their constant orgs, monitoring staff, demoralizing programs and all the firings (and Vp promotions). All the while being run by a mediocre Svp with no real skills, surrounded by nasty little women. So yeah, don’t hold your breath thinking hr is gonna did their mess.

Here’s my issue. If HR was serious about turning our culture around (and mgmt, not just HR) they need to start some way of getting honest feedback from employees without fear of reprisals. Focus groups with third parties etc. I mean they’ve must be p-ss-d and or embarrassed by the LinkedIn story and the constant bad reviews. I really want this place to improve but I truly believe if I said anything not along the lines of what my VP wants to hear its adios to me. And I’m not a chicken sh--, I like the people I work with and want this place to turn around. I want the best for the company and by default for myself. It does well I do well. But the culture is broken.

Just a correction, from an optics perspective it looks like HR has additional people only because other teams have rolled up under the banner I.E. the Learning Team. And no, HR doesn’t task people with scanning these sites looking to connect dots with posters. That would be a serious wasted effort. That being stated, while HR does need to get their p--p in a pile, it’s the free for all mentality that leadership enjoys that’s the problem. They do as they please with zero consequence. Time to seriously clean house.

Am I missing something? How is it that an anonymous website is being used to fire people?

Maybe instead of using this site to fire people they should use some of the concerns raised as issues they could work on to fix morale. They might even come up with a better idea than wear your sports jersey to work day. Seriously that’s the best those overpaid, over staffed, over promoted knobs can come up with? See some of the posts on Glassdoor from previous HR staff no longer at CVE. Pretty eye opening. PS I love my job please don’t fire me. 🤪

"More people work in HR now than we had before all the layoffs. That’s the Cenovus way."

No, that is the way it always goes.. regardless of who you work for. Your average HR worker tends to be both manipulative and incompetent. PS. CVE HR combs through this site looking to connect dots and terminate people. Hope you folks are smart enough to not view this site from your work computers.

Correction.......they are not necessarily leaving for better jobs, but they are leaving for better companies. I know several people that took lateral moves and less pay just to get away.

They would have less people in HR...but it turns out you need workday AND 50 people to figure out how many hours of vacation you have left using their ludicrous formula!!

More people work in HR now than we had before all the layoffs. That’s the Cenovus way.

That’s great - Bangs can hire more under qualified HR staff to handle all the exits and screw the remaining staff over in new and creative ways.

I'm sure this makes management happy as it saves on severance down the road. No company values its employees less than CVE.
