Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

A depressing Christmas for DXC workers in UK and Ireland

It’seems that layoffs are never off the table at DXC, especially in UK and Ireland. The author of this article claims to be in possession of an internal memo from the leadership, that states that the company will be taking applications for voluntary redundancies and that will be followed by a massive stroke of WFR’s that will go on until the end of March. Does anyone have more info on this? Who will be affected?

Even Mikey is looking forward to leaving DXC in the future with a sack full of money. He won't stick around when the company is on the verge of bankruptcy and cannot pay creditors. Almost there especially with 105 day terms for suppliers to receive payment for goods and services rendered.

The title of the post should be changed. Nothing depressing about it, many people are waiting for VR which can't come soon enough. People want to leave but want to be paid off to make up for the c-ap endured the last couple of years.

Most UK locations have already closed and the few people who are left either work from home or from the client sites. Some cheap location exist in the north east and Scotland where labour is cheap. It's actually cheaper to employ a grad programmer or engineer in the north east than in India.

Spartan training was like having hot pins stuck into ones eyes! Best bit was looking for a customer WBS Code to dump our time onto, it must have cost some of them a packet! 😀

Most people in the states work from home, doesn't make sense why they aren't doing it everywhere. No one has to be in office, except possibly the mailroom.

Yes that Spartan training was a waste of time. Why would a non-sales person need to know all that c-ap?

It didn’t explain “Digital “ or “Binonic “ at all.

Attending or receiving training at DXC is an oxymoron. All that useless online cr@p like Spartans or the latest BS corporate tool which is crippled is hardly training.

I feel like sending an email asking ML to justify why he should not be WFR'd. No doubt I will be added to the list which would not be a bad thing, after all working for a bunch of clusterfooks for 20+ years has been draining on my health.

Mikey, I think people have seen the real you, seen through the smoke and mirror, and are concerned we have CEO who lacks understanding of the business.

  1. Because training costs per head is excessive?

  2. Because it's not cost effective to train someone about to retire?

  3. Because old people don't adapt to new training as quickly? [OK, I am trolling myself now]

  4. Because Grads are cheap?

  5. Because Grads soak knowledge like a sponge?

  6. Because Grads are so keen to impress they won't spot they are being exploited?

  7. Did I mention grads are cheap?

  8. Because it is easier to bring in short-term expertise/contractors and drop them when work done?

  9. Because Potential renumeration costs are reduced?

  10. Because lean, cheap, automatic services is the goal, not people?

  11. Because fresh blood can bring fresh set of eyes and hange the status quo

and because DXC isn't designed to be around long enough for wasting time on training anyway

Still don't understand why are they hiring / advertising about 277 UK jobs on their website and WFR other UK employees from the business - surely they should retrain existing staff to those advertised roles which over time would improve morale and reduce the fear from existing staff that next year they could be WFR

Why even have to take a 2K cut in pay, DXC would save all the cost of office space, utilities if they just let people work from home.

In this Digital age with video conferencing on your personal phone, Skype , WebEx there is no reason to have offices to go too. Mikely you want Digital then DO IT.

Mikely doesn't have a clue , just talks double talk.

Hey Mikey ....

Why don't you use what's left of you single brain cell ?

Offer each UK Worker, the chance to WFH 5 days a week, for a 2K drop in wages ?

I'm sure 99.99% would agree to that, then just close down the empty ghost towns, I mean offices left in the UK.

It's hardly rocket science to work out a great deal like that, and as usual, you could take full credit for this great idea ;-)

Merry Christmas,

Surely it just depressing all the time for DXC workers!? It was definitely the most miserable and depressing place I ever worked. Do yourself a favor and give yourself a nice Xmas present by getting the hell out of there! Life is much better without DXC dragging you down.

It’s easy to reduce office space , have everyone that doesn’t need to touch the equipment work at home.

Work from home, “Cloud “, “Digital “ , SDSA, that st/ty thing called VPN will cut costs without cutting required resources to support the client.

We have Skype , so there is no reason to be physically in the same building or office with anyone.

These new Digital centers are so stupid, when we’re trying to sell digital.

DXC management has no clue what Digital Transformation really means

They should pull the plug for UK and outsource the services and staff out and cut their overheads (Staff being the major overheads) to other supplies. This WFR process has be on the table for multiple times a year both DXC and CSC. Also with all WFR they can also meet their plans to reduce office space and actual offices with the UK thus saving them more money in the process.
