Everyday, More and more good talents are leaving Oracle .. this is a clear sign that Oracle is heading to it’s end of it’s prosperous growth time.

I know a couple of people who went into IT jobs from oracle dev. That can work also. Not everyone gets to work at a top cloud company. Lots of other options out there.

so true! only bad managers have a career there. I stayed many years and it was like flying to the Moon to get out. I got courage when management changed the teams like dirty socks and the whole place was like an airport.
If you have been in oracle for too long, you are likely unemployable in any of the top cloud companies. I have seen so many existing oracle employees unable to land a job in companies like salesforce, aws and Microsoft despite being referred by their ex-colleagues. Given that lot of their time is wasted in political maneuvering ( at any level ) the skills get rusty! If you just joined oracle - you need to examine your head, less than 5 years - run away from there, more than 15 years - just stay as you probably are a crony of some gvp !

I'm actually in my late forties and I left after many years, deciding waiting for a package just wasn't worth it. Took me about 4 months to find another job once I decided to start looking. I have had ZERO regrets. I had a lot of good years there but I saw the writing on the wall and decided to just get out. Everyone still there I talk to seems miserable.
I personally know two people in their mid-forties who left Oracle for better opportunities. It can be done.
Good luck to those who have moved on, it's the right move. You could wait years in the toxic environment at Oracle for a package. Oracle moves slowly. If you work there, you already know that.

The application process at most companies is brutal with id--tic ATS systems, overseas HR people and everything seems to hold you at arm’s length. It’s all about the $$$. I actually liked my team and working for Oracle but after 7 years of no pay increases one needs to move on or you just have to admit to yourself that you are worth considerably less than you were a few years ago. I found a number of comps willing to pay what I was worth so for me i’m Glad I moved on.

This type of situation always uneasy. Do you get out now like the others or do you wait for a package? If you decide to stay, are you considered less of a talent by management and then get pushed around even more? If you're over 40 in the USA, is there anything even out there?

It's sad really. Oracle is in a lot of trouble. They don't have anything to stop the movement to the cloud where all the innovation seems to be happening. Oracle has lost it's way. They could have owned this space.
