Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Your direct manager is informed when you apply for an internal position

When you apply for a internal position it will email you and your direct manager and email saying which job you applied for. If you have not been in that job for a year or are under a PIP it will automatically reject the submission. Yes your management can affect you getting that job but (I don't think) they can reject automatically on there end. Now they can look up the req see who is the hiring manager and tell them to reject your application. Typically when your management screws your out of a position it's because they want to impose a 90 or greater day hold for releaseing you. Now that is a higher level agreent typically between VPs or perhaps directors. HR guidelines are 30days max, however this is Windstream and it's @$$ backwards so buddy system rules here... I would reach out to HR and ask them why this is happening. Just to screw over your bosses, and then exit to an external position....

You'll have to be more specific because unfortunately that describes way too many people around here.

I used this as leverage to get pay raises every year for the past three years. If your direct manager and hiring manager see that you've posted out and they know you're an asset to your team, it's a great way to force their hand into giving you raises and better titles. You sure as hell won't get them any other way.

I like when your manager denies your application because he deems that you are unqualified. Shouldn't that be the hiring managers determination?

Also love it when the hiring manager refuses to hire you because he's doing your current manager a favor by not stealing you.

Seen way too many hard working people with great talent leave because of these backdoor politics.

Also seen way too many hussies get promotions because of their office (literally in the office) romances.
