Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

SIU?

Look I hate to post this as is it a small unit but I just can’t get any straight information anywhere. Bottom line I’m somewhere in the middle. Have not been here forever. No major severance package waiting for me. I have to work. The SIU unit has not had any major layoffs yet but we did lose some admin’s. Lots of people leaving. 1 unit had people leaving constzntly but no one tells me why? What are the chances of Lay offs and how much in this unit in the next six months?

How could QA scores bring him down? He only handed em out. What took him out was he was a liability and a lawsuit waiting to happen. EV was no longer there to protect him and BC, as much as he worshiped him had enough of protecting him. EV now at a carrier that begins with “K” and ends in “r”. MM will also end up there, wait and see..

Wherever EV landed we could all be so lucky to work for him once again. One thing is certain though. Lets add another carrier to the list of companies where MS will NEVER work. Here’s to MS running out of options and probably pumping gas somewhere.

I recently heard there were massive layoffs in the SIU with included the golden boy MMM. Maybe his star wasn't as shiny as he thought it was. I heard it was his QA scores that took him out. Think about it. He had numerous complaints on him for targeting investigators, running them off and generally being an inexperienced over his head a hole. I'm surprised he lasted as long as he did. I'm sad to hear they took his unit too. How did Phil survive? There were many highly experienced investigators who were maligned by MMM. I hear EV landed another position so I'd look for him to throw MMM a bone...again. Heaven help the poor folks he'll work with. Leopards don't change their spots.

Looks like someone struck a nerve. Unlike MS, EV was let go. Not fired. Considering the length of the post guess he is still unemployed. Loser

Seems like MS has lost footing with his worthless OT law suit and now has decided to start bashing EV. EV was the best for the SIU. He knows the business and he knows claims. He treated people with respect and dignity. Sure he did not like proven slackers (see MS) and did what he could to move them out. He will be sorely missed. Here's to wishing EV the best and hopes that anyone who would ever want to hire MS would ask anyone at AIG about him.

A great employee and investigator has no one said about MS, EVER.

I will miss EV said no one ever except the 1 guy who owes him his job. Honestly EV worked hard he just was too vain for his own good. Did not play well w others and ANY criticism or even a question or mild disagreement set him in a tizzy. Very thin skinnned. To ANY investigator still at that sinking ship good luck .

Does anyone know if ex employees are being contacted. That’s one of the obvious problems is most of the current employees are very scared and The toxic boss still has enough people that are scared and need their jobs. It’s really the ex-employees that would tip the scale but I just don’t know if they are going there

The actual investigatorsfor the most part are actually fairly competent and quite experienced. However the management and their use of segmentation causes huge breakdowns in communication. No investigator works consistently with any adjusters so it’s tough to get any positive communication going. As noted several managers are engaging in illegal and immoral practices which is causing a huge attitude problem. Look AIG is tanking and the culture overall is toxic. Throw in a incompetent boss or two and you’re not going to get a good product.

I have experienced myself the poor service and lack of investigations in this department. Claim Adjusters and other members have to tell this department how to do their jobs and still they don't do a thorough investigation or follow through especially when it comes to fraud. What a joke some of the employees in that division are.

The end is slowly slowly slowly coming for mm and Bc. Who knows when but they are on their last leg. More complaints and a whistle blower complaint confirmed. They are up against skilled opponents now, bye bye boys .

Not sure why this unit didn't learn from the past. They had issues in CA with class action suits around 2009 or 2010. I happen to know someone who worked in San Ramon, CA and was part of the class action suit.

The last 2 comments are from LONG term SIU guys. Both are correct . That last class action was 24 years ago. As far as micro Marc yea he continues to receive formal complaints. His #2 guy will
Likely have a heart attack soon. Jobs a job but any one with career thoughts get out soon. Lifers wait for the Rif.

There was a prior class action lawsuit I believe in SIU. That's when AIG made all employees go hourly except for those who were salaried. I know there were employees in CA involved in the class action lawsuit.

F--- AIG. I have people recommending I find a new position within the company but honestly, I feel the issues are so deep-seeded and the damage is done. I have 0 emotional investment in this "thing" managers call a job.

I am currently pursuing other things, but all I know is while I'm in the office I feel like there's straight up poison running through my veins. I'm tired of sitting here and allowing some bare-minimum corporation make me feel as if my life is pointless.

F--- a two week notice

My understanding is there is a civil suit being shopped for prior unpaid ot and loss of income due to retaliatory layoffs. It’s well known the unpaid ot being worked in some units and what happens if you dare complain.

SIU is a shadow of what it was and as with AIG as a whole will never return. People are completely distrusting of upper management for good reason.

Found this website by accident. I was an ISD employee for 21 years and was axed in 2015. For the first 15-16 years things were OK - good case load, bosses were either ex-LEO or had other investigative experience, etc. Things began to go downhill when Ed Voit came along and ISD began losing work to SIU because they had overhired. This is not a slam against any SIU folks who were there at the time - the fault lies with the poor decisions made by senior management. They took what had been two high-quality, productive units full of loyal hard-working people and ran them right into the ground. I was a loyal AIG man for 21 years and that went away with one phone call (yes, our entire unit was let go by telephone). Sad to see the carnage and suffering is still going on.

Another restructuring?!?! PLEASE try to find any other SIU using this theory. You won’t. Look I keep my head down mouth shut and do my job but this unit and company are both cratering. Get your resume out there. BD himself said people may only work At AIG for a few years. Smart man

To all SIU employees and pretty much all G.I. employees I was an ISD Employee who was laid off several years ago. I don’t envy my friends who’ve had to endure this freefall but do not think SIU cannot be farmed out. Very few states if any actually demand an in-house unit. They demand an active plan. Their is almost no doubt General insurance and certainly work comp will be sold in 2019. The same thing happened to the auto unit several years ago when they were bought by another carrier. AIG is simply a failing company. I might risk staying if I was a long-term employee with a great severance package awaiting but otherwise actively look to remove yourself from the toxic atmosphere of poor management both in the investigative unit and AIG as a whole

I left on my own about year ago. My boss was great but just the knowledge that they let mm continue and it was well known that he was abusive made me me want to leave. SIU offered NO career path and “stagnation” oh I mean segmentation was the worst plan I had ever seen. Pay was ok but culture by bob or above was beyond insane. My advice leave for your own sanity,

Another person gone in SIU. Same kamikaze unit where employees go to be written up and discarded. No real thoughts or inside knowledge but tough place to work that’s for damn sure.

Prediction there will be lawsuits against aig and that particular supervisor. NO reason not to. AIG will pay just like ot issue as they let abusive manager continue.

A DOI audit is not unusual and is no secret. They announced it a while back. The question is will it expose the weakness of The unit. It’s a AIG problem in general and no reason to think Investigations is going to shine when rumors of closing shop are all around.

Unfortunately, that isn't uncommon here. Not in SIU but I had a manager with similar tastes. The manager is still with the company.

Overtime was always questioned for entry level employees, and the employee told they have a time management issue, despite the team being very understaffed. Same manager bullying employees for taking PTO and arriving early/leaving on time. Everything, I mean everything, is cherry-picked. Did a good job? It wasn't you. Something wrong? I don't care if you weren't on the project, you must have done something wrong anyway.

There were many, many ridiculous requests and penalizations I can't explain here if I want to stay anonymous. Regardless, employees under this boss and others who escalated anything further were heavily rebuked for it ("the entire department knows not to trust you anymore"). How are we supposed to trust HR to shield them from retaliation if it's proven to happen? Short of a lawsuit anyway, which is difficult for everyone involved.

In short, it's not just SIU.

I was an ISD person let go in ca. I was definitely bummed at a time. I was not ready for it despite a decent severance. Lots of rumors A I G is being audited by California related to their SIU department From reading this post it sounds like things have just gotten worse and worse. Don’t see anyway heads will not roll. They always do. I like my job better now but I will admit that AIG benefit package was a good one Other than that it’s not tough to find a job out there .

1 toxic sup had caused a large amount of the issues from what I hear. Bad stuff happens during bad times . Same thing. NO communication why he was not dealt with. Heard of hr inv? Results! No. Lots of rumors of nepotism. A lot of it is just accompany wide spiral, 50 percent aig 50 percent inv unit. Unless you plan on exiting in 3 or less or have a good severance go: interview now!!! AIG is the titanic :

There are some good people and some good bosses at AIG In inv unit but a few ok 1 sup was / is allowed to run amok. Worst boss ever. Segmentation equals disaster. SO glad I’m gone and most who leave will be thankful. Review posts. Good economy. Better jobs.
