Net income per employee has not been improving recently. Without that, there is no reason anybody should expect a raise. I was an Oracle employee for nearly 20 years and in really good times I might see a 1% increase.
As long as LE is in charge, Oracle will continue to be a cash flow generator, by acquiring companies and by doing financial engineering.
Leadership will hold on as long as they continue to get paid millions and millions and soon billions of dollars in compensation.
The CTO optimism is just more lies pointed to the investors. That's all that is. There is no real optimism, just propping up the stock price, like the top brass did with Sears. This is to keep LE's and others investments safe, as they are based on borrowing against the value of Oracle stock.
Look at what MH said. He thinks that Oracle is a whale. Good that it's big, but then, instead of a strong whale swimming through the ocean and devouring it's customers, it's a beached whale. Freudian slip. He really thinks of Oracle as a beached whale thrashing on the shore.
MH knows that Oracle is going down big time. I think the worst is yet to come. I wouldn't expect hikes for several years at Oracle. Just a lot of really nasty people fighting with each other to be the last ones standing.
If you want to be part of that, then stay. I think most people don't. Until you have been attacked, though, you will not really understand what all this means. People will be leaving, one way or another, because Oracle can't support the number of employees that it has, let alone giving any of them a hike.
No hikes, just delay of the cloud game.
The only way to get a hike is to leave.

It's all SC. I'm guessing you are from India since you used the "hike" word and that you actually expect an annual one. Most of your USA counterparts haven't received a hike in years, and many have been told to take a one-way hike out the door. Good luck.
