Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Question

Rumor is if you are remote and apply for a similar job being posted at a hub, that many will NOT be hired. And those who get an offer will be at much lower pay. If you get an offer at lower pay and turn it down you forfeit severance benefits.

Anybody knows if this is true? We can no longer get severance if we refuse a lower paying job?

Fact is that there might be PIPs all over the place,

renegotiated positions at whatever salary (likely not higher than current salary),

offers of new job at other locations (Phoenix) with / without relocation,

and no unemployment if offered a new job and the offer is not accepted,

as Albuquerque is 100% shut down.

Just try to save money in an emergency fund, and be prepared for the brutal realities.

I worked with a senor machinist whose job was outsourced and he was rehired in my area with a "renegotiated" salary. Don't know if they would have refused to pay him severance if he turned the new job down, but I definitely don't doubt it.

There is certainly history for this exact same situation. in 2009/2010 when they were in the process of shutting down most of the manufacturing areas of Engines if you were offered ANY job and didn't accept it you forfeited the severance package. Also people that applied for and received job offers at other Hon campuses were typically offered 10% less even if the job they were accepting was identical to the one they were leaving. What a great company to work for.

Yes I heard they agree to hire the incumbent as long as they move. But heard they will renegotiate the salary. Hope it is not true.

And, if you quit, generally speaking, you are not eligible for unemployment benefits. Although you might consult with a labor lawyer to see if the circumstances amount to a "constructive discharge" as in job conditions changed so much that a reasonable person would rather quit than stay.

That is correct. If you turn down the job, you will be considered a "voluntary termination," you quit. If you "quit" you don't get severance.
