I see over at the glass door HR is back at posting positive reviews for themselves. Keep it up guys. Why bother trying to fix the problem when you can just hide it inder the covers. Overpaid and useless. It’s a good thing the Herald does a c-ap job of investigating reporting or any homework at all on how CVE is really doing internally.

I wouldn't bet on Alex and Neil in regular cubicles. There are a limited number of interior offices so they may still have an office when they move to Brookfield Place. And even if they don't the setup for executive cubicles might follow the model used on newer floors at Gulf Canada Square: a double-sized cubicle for the executive + a cubicle converted to a private meeting area + a cubicle for their admin giving them an ample buffer from all the noise, smells and other distractions of sitting in a common cubicle. At CPC they always prided themselves that everyone was in a cubicle but what they never mentioned is that some cubicles were (much)bigger and (much)better situated than others.
Still it's shocking with how small CVE went with the cubicle design - I've heard the phase "doll-house furniture" thrown around to describe it. The smaller cubicles will lead to increased distractions, increased conflicts, decrease morale and reduce productivity and it's not like we're hurting for space in Brookfield Place. I hope team leads seriously consider flex working to allow for those that can to work away from their cubicle to do so.
I just feel bad for any big guy who does have to sit in one of those. It would be embarrassing and potential human rights complaint taken to the extreme.
The image of stuffing those two into the micro cubes gave me one hearty chuckle. Maybe the big boys should spend a day a week like the peons and see how they “love CVE. And take their princesses with them
The reason you don’t have a job is because you sat in a cubicle all day and collected a pay check. Your type where shown the door over the years along time ago. Probably why you are still not working.
The rest of us that have survived 8 rounds of layoffs work hard, deserve to be here, and deserve to be treated with a minute bit of respect. So as far as your comment about we need a round of layoffs to teach us a lesson. Thanks been there done that 8 times now, still here. Bite me.
Based on how the folks laid off have been snatched up by Suncor and other companies your comment about not being wanted is out to lunch. Good try.
Some of you are hilarious. Alex wasn't brought in to be our friend. He was hired to make tough decisions. Some of you are beyond entitled and perhaps a nice layoff would knock you back to reality. I know when Encana went through their layoffs, there were more than a few companies in town who would not touch ex-Encana people due to their country club mentality and entitled attitudes.. and Cenovus is cut from the same cloth as ECA.
This is an advance look at the town hall next week. Message will be stop your whining we are sick of it or leave. We just don’t care. That will be their message.
Stop winning and be happy you have a job. Those of us that don’t would be happy to go sit in your cubicle everyday for a pay check.
The only way you can take these micro cubicles is it’s mgmts way of trying to get rid of people without packages. I’m embarrassed for CVE, that’s the only word for it embarrassed. Everyone whos sees them walks away laughing and not in a happy way.
I would love to see Alex or Neil even try to fit in one. They literally could not fit, and I’m not being mean it’s just a slightly large man would not even fit. Let’s call it the cubicle challenge there Alex. In front of your staff go and sit in one and let’s see how you would like to spend over 8hrs a day with your knees crammed up against your chest. You should be ashamed what you are doing to your staff. Our cubicles at Conoco we’re at least humane and descent. These are sad.
Re: the herald article: the fact that porkie doesn't know the amount of oil that will be cut back is unreal. Like... what are you doing if you don't know the company's production? Maybe at the bakery with the politician Drew?
Wait until you see your new cubicles. What a joke. The walls are actually made of carpet and bend. If the job market ever turns around CVE is screwed, until then they just made their work force that much more angrier and unmotivated. I would like to see a VP spend 1 day in one of those cages.
