Thread regarding Molina Healthcare Inc. layoffs

So predictable — just this time no investors to bilk...

https://lbpost.com/news/layoff-notices-sent-270-clinic-employees-golden-shore-plans-close/

A whopping two weeks. That for a guy with a net worth north of $200m given the current MHI stock price not to mention the tens of millions in severence. He could have done so much more good for the community with that $25m instead of pumping it into that failed business. Sad. More free time now to dispense criticisms and dumb public policy ideas on social media. Whoever takes these clinics over, be smart and immediately can the incompetent “CEO” and the rest of the toadies that has had their lips attached to Dr. Ms a$$ from MHI. Stay away from anyone that says Caid or Care.

IMO, JO never provided any real value for our department or Molina. He used his friends and family connection throughout his employment here. Sure, perhaps he's a nice guy, but never really contributed toward any real problem solving here. We don't miss you JO! Best of luck with yiur charades in Hawaii.

If Molina HealthCare is so ashame of how Dr. Molina ran business when he was a CEO.. then change the company name.

Molina HealthCare does not deserve to use his family name.

You talk about how the company lost alot of money because of his family and friends yet you have the B&$$&@ of

gina turley spending millions of dollars in Epic and for what!? Only to be used by Care connections? Talk about incompetent people with big fat checks and titles.

Molina HealthCare your time will come! And by then all of GSM FORMER EMPLOYEES will sit back and watch and wish you the best.

Best regards,

A proud Golden shore employee.

True that! from HR, Finance, Business Development, PR/Marketing, Plan Ops -- the list goes on and on how incompetent and unqualified FOMs drove Molina to the brink and took down GSM. Karma indeed.

Go away JO. You're the voice of God now? You are sooooo privileged that you can’t see how you’re part of the problem, coming on this board when every job at Molina/GS was gifted to you due your direct connection to the family via mommy. You are the epitome of what was wrong with Molina/GS, unskilled friends and fam running wild behind fake titles and fat salaries. You can’t even imagine the perspective of those on the other side of your privilege which is why you felt compelled to post. Sit down baby boy, this board and these issues are not problems for you or FOM, you have no real problems, you’re good.

Well I did have the opportunity to work with both Molina’s for 20 years and money changed them for the worst. Sorry to burst your bubble but not everyone thinks they walk on water or are good people. And by my count you’re 0-2 with jobs connected to them.

If any of you (like the one that posted) had an opportunity to work next to Mario Molina then you would realize what a stand up guy he is. This decision to close GSM was very very hard. The truth is he was pouring millions his own money to keeping GSM a float. Without the MHC contract it was not viable for him to continue knowing 85 percent of our revenue would disappear on 02/01. We are currently in the process of selling the clinics to Altamed and Wellspace (Sacramento).

I love how people love to bad mouth behind a computer screen with the pleasure of being anonymous. My name is Jacob Ofilas. I have worked as the Director of IT for GSM since being let go at Molina in Sept of 2017. 01/04/19 was my last day at GSM. This past year at GSM has taught me so much. Being able to help Mario set up a new organization was a amazing experience despite the outcome. I would gladly work for him again in any of his ventures. The Molina family are wonderful people and it’s a shame to see so many of you bad mouth without any real knowledge or insight. I will not be responding to any replies on this message board because I have said my piece but if you want to respond to me directly please look me up on LinkedIn.

I dunno about the previous poster but yes I’m still at Molina and at first was sad to see the changes but now understand why they were necessary. I’ve seen the Molina’s treat some people badly so I can understand why some feel animosity. It’s arguable if they’re “good people” as That’s open to opinion.

Why the animosity against Dr. M? He built the company up...those that are mean-spirited are still with Molina. What has he done to hurt you?

I worked with both brothers, and knew their mother. They are good people.

Should we even call our company Molina anymore? We dropped the brothers. We dropped founding fathers direction. Change the name already!

So true. I had the opportunity to work with Dr. M periodically and found him to be both smart and kind. Now I see his snarky social media posts and he’s become the very thing he espoused to detest - trump-like mean spirited commentary on many subjects (most of which are outside his expertise). I hope he will get back to sharing his insights on healthcare issues without the insults and personal attacks before all his credibility vanishes. He can do a lot of good if he takes a new approach. Just unsure if he has the discipline to do so. Good luck to the employees at GSMG as they move on and to the patients that find new providers if they are forced to.
