Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Just hired in Baton Rouge

I’m new to Honeywell. Resigned from a oil and gas construction company. I’m really looking forward to working here. My question is how is the company doing in Baton Rouge. Did I make a mistake? Or is this a long term office in BR?

Not perfect? Decent place? REALLY? OMG management has decimated your benefits, or wait Honeywell really doesn't have any benefits only catastrophic health care - de-banded people so they wouldn't have to pay bonuses - sounds like a great place to work...

Amazed that anyone working at HW makes comments about a "Decent Place. How are your medical, vision, dental and pr-scrip-ion policies working out? Please the company is a disgrace...

Agree about UOP. Almost all of the concerns and issues at this site relate to other business units. UOP has to meet expectations, but has done a pretty good job so far.

If you are with UOP part of business there then you should be ok. UOP remains a good place to work and the legacy UOP people pre-2006 are mostly awesome. Honeywell can be brutal if business doesn't make earnings targets for Wall St. so listen closely global town halls and business town halls and the quarterly stock holders meetings for key phases to be prepared

If you hear OEF or Roof top efficiency or streamlining and other cutting phrases prepare for some hard times. With Darius as a new CEO he is out to make a name for himself and doesn't want to be the guy who turned HON into GE. (Even though many would say we are 80% of the way there already just not the stock price yet)

Keep your eyes and ears open and form your own opinions..... some of the rants on this site are false and unfortunately some are accurate

Bottom line is... the bottom line for this quarter is as far as the execs can see. The people are the best I've worked with in my 16 years in engineering. The management is all about you working as many hours as it takes for them to get their bonuses and to prop up the stock price. Not so different than anywhere else. But, they would sell their mothers to make this quarter's numbers.

I’ve been here a long time. The negative people on this site are largely unhappy regarding life generally. Honeywell was a better company, got greedy in 2008 and is trying to improve. It’s a pretty decent place.

I can't speak for BR, but ignore most of the bull---- you read on this site, a lot of it is childish people who are whining for the sake of whining. 2 years ago you could come here and read real updates and know what was up but it's become a place for people to act ways they wouldn't really in person because of the anonymity. I've been with HW for 13 years now - it's not always perfect, but what job really is?

Good luck with your new job!
