I feel like AIG is pressuring people into quitting on their own to save on severance and bad press. Have you noticed how bad the situation here has become?
The more experience you have the worse you are treated by management. I know several people who have already gave up and gave in their two-week notice.
How is this okay? Is there anything to be done about it?
If the employees had a Union, a lot of what is happening in the work place would have to cease and it would be better for all employees
I think it is about time a Union formed at AIG for some stability.

Won't be a surprise if capitalism ensures that Finance and Investments are right-sized.
They will try to get some employees on performance issues during first qtr when they conduct performance reviews. This has been the case for several years. The employees that don't get fired for performance will get RIF'd.
Well after reading this. I believe it just comes down to a simple understanding or realization. AIG DOES NOT CARE!! how long has RIF been going on? How long have people been talking and worrying inside and outside the office.
THEY DONT CARE!! If you don't like the company leave the house. just that simple.
I say ride the wave for a while unless you really need something more stable. The severance package can get you through for a while if you have worked for a while at AIG.
Thank you for the guy who pointed out the obvious. Yes it's a poor work ethic but u can leave , stay and kill yourself or ride the wave. I was just giving the group a 3rd option, it's not just the first two.

Is waiting for a severance pkg, really worth your sanity and health? Send your resumes out, because they don't have money for anyone. It's down and dirty from now on, they will get rid of you one way or another by any and all means.

Unreasonable with the answer of “no”, sorry I’m unable to accommodate this request on that timeline. Then respond with a realistic time frame. If they choose to fire you then so be it. For some reason people seem to forget the word NO exists for a reason. As long as you remain professional then the blowback will most likely not be as bad as you think.
Unfortunately employers in such cases have more power. That is just the way it is, and not just in AIG. I suggest each person decides on the best option, given all the information that is known. There is no good solution to this issue.
wow that Steve Jobs quote reminds me of a town hall we had a year or so. I believe that town hall was done in the newer Charlotte office. The CIO basically said the same thing....

May be the quitters got better jobs and are just following what Late Steve Jobs (who mistreated his employees and partners all the time) said - if you feel bad, quit because life is too short.
Was it illegal the way they were 'treated by management'? If yes, then get counsel. If no, then toughen up.
Quitting due to a bad boss is pervasive in so-called good companies such as Apple, Facebook, Google, GM, Metlife, etc.
Wow..I am so glad to see this because I felt like it was just me, the short answer is no-there really isn’t anything you can do about it unless you have some documentation of harassment or a hostile work environment. I know they want me to quit but I am not going to give them the satisfaction. I can stay here and collect a paycheck for taking up space indefinitely.
