Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

The fiscal 1st quarter earnings- a confrontation with the truth.

I see that analysts are predicting stagnating results for Oracle’s earning or even a slight decline in YOY results. Think that that will be just a picture painted in numbers about the condition that the company is these days. We all know that the most significant factor in these potential poor numbers ls the stagnation of the cloud business. This creates a situation that can result in multiple shifts and cuts. After these disappointing results, the company might just decide to cut costs. The other thing that can potentially happen is that after this the leadership decides to reorganize the cloud business. In either case, things could get very turbulent for the employees at Oracle these days.

FWIW, I know a few people who were laid off or used to work at MS during the current "regime". From what they told me, the work environment was still dysfunctional like it was in the Bill Gates era.

Not saying that Oracle is a great place to work. But I also don't buy the stories that other firms are nirvanas. When you look at the ratings at places like glassdoor, most large companies are comparable, which is to say: not great,

Microsoft was heading down a dark path and was failing repeatedly but turned themselves around and was most certainly, not a well loved company. Gates knew when to step aside and focus on other things and salvage his reputation - turn it around even. Microsoft turned itself around as well and turned itself into the number 2 cloud vendor while still maintaining its lead in operating systems while conceding some ground in that area.

How does Oracle manage to do that is the question. It starts at the top. They seem to say the right things. Sort of. Its a culture that must pervade the entire company from top to bottom. Maybe it starts with admitting there is a problem and rallying everyone to fix it rather than running around naked and proclaiming that your clothes are the finest in the land.

-1hpm yes and the blue screen of death, too. But Gates moved on, his foundation does large scale things with his $$$$$$ in his lifetime (possibly cutting into the number of Picassos and Carbon Beach properties he buys each year), and the company is not a dead dinosaur. So not going to be in the came coffin as DEC.

Hey Larry, remember LVC Valencia in 2007 where all your $$$ and your boat ended up in the cr@pper because of management decisions YOU made? Deja vu, LE? Left CD oh I mean TK in far too long despite no performance except @$$ ki$$ing. He cried all the way to the bank and Google.

"Microsoft will always be better in history and deservedly so."

Not defending O here, but are you serious? Microsoft was infamous for being unethical during Bill Gate reign.

LE doesn’t give a Sh-- about oracle anymore. And the fact thay he brought in MH and kept TK around for as long as he did proves it. Gates is way, way smarter that LE and a much better human being too.

If Oracle dies like DEC or becomes some sad little legacy leftover company named "Oracle" it will be because of profound MANAGEMENT ERRORS made by LE. It is on you, Larry. Corporate culture comes from the top. Yes you cofounded. Yes, you have 30% left, amazing acvomplishment. But it should not have been just treated like a piggybank with crony directors. Microsoft will always be better in history and deservedly so. Gates etc knew better. You are maybe smarter but got lazy.
