Three recent dismissals at the Des Plaines and Riverside UOP sites for 'Cardinal Rules' violations stink like rotten layoffs, because headcount was reduced and the people targeted were onsite 'doers' who's jobs could be contracted to outside mechanical people. Does this affect someone's pension? It would be heartbreaking to hear that these people (80+ years of exp) lost their jobs AND their retirement.
Being unsafe is not good, but using safety as an excuse to reduce headcount or get rid of older employees is shady. I'd rather hear about re-education especially if the person was actually trying to do work, not be intentionally unsafe (which is of course ridiculous and worthy of being kicked offsite).
