The email essentially says if you aren't doing system safety .... your job has been moved to India. Not sure how this is related to ABQ closing as the work can't move to India.

As it pertains to the last bullet of that e-mail, I’ve heard are that the US Aero level RMSS organization is being eliminated. This includes RIFs for a good portion of those folks.

Although it says the RMSS Safety team is unaffected that is only true since they had gotten silo’d earlier this year. The ES RMSS Safety team has lost a lot of people in 2018 and they are likely losing more due to the ABQ shutdown. It is unclear if these resources are being replaced.

Lots of Engineers that work on the APU and Engine ECUs/FADECs fell under ES. I suspect the bulk of those from ES moving to E&PS are Control Engineers

It sounds as if the ALT is trying to make the ES financials appear better than they are by removing engineering costs, RIF engineering managers and directors, and prepare to potentially spin off MS&C in the future since some parts of that business are struggling by shoving engineering costs there. Avionics and Mechanical engineers have different skills sets are are not necessarily "interchangeable" in the projects they work. I wonder if this was a Morris Plains directive or if they thought of it all by themselves.

email I got yesterday in Glendale space:

" Dear Colleague:

As we continue to focus on growth, we must also continue to evaluate how our teams are structured and aligned to ensure we're as efficient as possible to meet our customers’ demands. Today, we announced a realignment of some groups of engineers across the three SBUs. This change will better align resources and skillsets with end products and customers while removing organizational barriers and increasing VPD.

At a high level, the changes include:

  • About 350 engineers moving from ES to E&PS and MS&C

  • About 35 engineers moving from E&PS to MS&C

  • About 10 engineers moving from MS&C to ES, E&PS and ISC.

  • Transitioning a portion of the Engineering Reliability and Maintainability prediction analyses and all reliability processes and tools work from each of the SBUs to the HTS RM&SS team.

Generally, these changes have little effect on the work people do today but drives growth through leveraging established centers of excellence and capability, and creates synergies to make us more efficient for our customers.

This change does not affect the Safety Systems teams. They will continue to be aligned to the SBUs but engage with the RM&SS HTS team to continually support our customers.

Over the next several days, those engineers being realigned will be hearing from their managers with additional information about this change.

We’re all confident that these changes will have a positive impact on the businesses we support and will drive growth for Aerospace.

Thank you for your continued commitment to our businesses.

John, Nigel and Steve "
